Tim Carroll is ruining the Shaw. His pretentious audience participation in every show he has anything to do with is becoming tiresome. Henry V was nothing but pretentious crap despite the valiant efforts by some of the actors. Hound of the Baskervilles was too long...More

We recently saw the Magician’s Nephew here and it was very good. The venue is big enough but not so big that there are bad seats and it’s very comfortable with a snack shop and gift shop. Quite nice.

I wonder why there is a fashion now to hire young perky artists to play Sherlock, making him jittery, impulsive cocaine addict and not a reasonable middle-age expert in old-age CSI. I wonder if the directors of this (or UK) production ever read all stories...More

My partner and I bid on tickets for the Shaw festival at a silent auction supporting victims of sexual violence. The package included tickets to one of three shows, all of which we were interested in seeing. The caveat was that our tickets had to...More

Everything about this show is first rate. Wonderful acting, singing and dancing. The staging is extremely imaginative. Excellent choreography. Beautiful 1920's costumes and a superb orchestra that is used almost continuously throughout the action of the play. Do not miss this one!

We spent a lovely day lunching and browsing the shops. The absolute highlight was the matinee production of Hound of the Baskervilles at the Festival Theatre. The production was riveting and done in a very clever way. The use of scenery and props was incredibly...More
