- Jon HFort Myers, Florida664 contributionsBeautiful AreaClean, historic, and just beautiful overall. This old town heritage district abounds with boutique shops, restaurants, and coffee houses, nestled amongst gorgeous flowers along the sidewalks. Spend an afternoon here and just relax and enjoy yourself.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2023
- Scott GWashington DC, District of Columbia408 contributionsRelaxing and very pleasantSpending a few house here for lunch and strolling around window shopping was a lovely way to spend time. It's a very nice place; relaxing and enjoyable. There is a good selection of places to eat at. Maybe it was a bit touristy -- however, I was a tourist, so that's okay.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2023
- Mark TOrlando, Florida464 contributionsGreat in any seasonWe were lucky enough to arrive in Niagara on the lake after a few inches of snow had been dropped overnight. The park at the edge of town was still covered with virgin snow that my Florida girls just loved exploring. There is also a great selection of stores and restaurants.Visited November 2022Written 4 June 2023

Restaurants on every corner and people from around the world. Lots of wineries and trails to explore. Beautiful park in the middle of the town. Our favorite Canadian town to visit!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 July 2023
- OhioannieWooster, Ohio29 contributionsFun for the day! This is a very attractive small town with a very touristy vibe. Lovely plantings and store fronts. Wineries are everywhere, and the Shaw festival is a big draw. On both a Great Lake and a major river, there is water sports and crafts everywhere. Fun for a few hours plus lunch or dinnerVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 July 2023

- Louise RNorthern Ireland, United Kingdom87 contributionsHolidayWe stayed in Niagra on the Lake and used it as a base to visit Niagra Falls. This village is steeped in history, clean with lots of independent boutiques for shopping. The floral displays around the village were amazing, and the area down by the waterfront is gorgeous. We were able to use the bus to travel to Niagra Falls so a car is not essential. There was lots to do, horse and carriage rides and bus trips to vineyards/wine tasting, museum and heritage houses. Also great places to eat 😄Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2023
- Sarah J3 contributionsGo for the flowers alone! The flowers on Queen Street are absolutely amazing! Those alone make it worth taking a walk down the street and back. The shopping in the unique shops makes it even better. Make sure you take a visit here while visiting the town!Visited August 2023Written 16 August 2023

Several 1800s forts to visit too. Well worth a visit and to take advantage of its proximity to the wineries. If we had, had time we would have hired bikes and done our own wine tour.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 September 2023

Nice town/village. Still maintains a friendly. Quaint “Hallmark Christmas” atmosphere. Cute boutiques line the streets. Wonderful weekend getaway.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a great village to visit. They have persevered the 19th century look and feel. We were there on December 31st and was pleased with the holiday spirt
being displayed. Only 30 minutes from Niagara Falls and makes for a nice stop over if traveling to Tronto.
Take the time to stop into the Prince of Wales located on the main st. Enjoy a walk through enjoying the vintage surroundings.
As you stroll down Main St be sure to stop in the many interesting shops.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A weekday in October gave us small crowds with most shops open. The village was lovely with easy parking, delicious offerings, and warm, friendly locals. Definitely on our list for another trip.

We took the WEGO orange line to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The transfer is at Butterfly Conservatory and during Spring, the first NOTL started at 10.30am.
WEGO's stop for NOTL is at Fort George. From, it is only a 5 minutes walk into the Heritage Town Centre. For those with mobility issues, there is a shuttle into town.
We chose to walk into town and admired the charming old houses along the way. We stumbled upon a Budapest Chimney Cake shop which sell very delicious and a variety of flavours chimney breads. Naturally, we bought the chimney breads for lunch. There is also a cafe selling fantastic coffee 2 stores down.
After lunch, we strolled to Lake Ontario to take in the views from the waterfront. It was pretty crowded on a Sunday with picnicing crowds.

Loved our visit to NOTL. We visited in my birthday in February so while there were people around it was not busy at all.
We love historical buildings and areas and it was great to walk these streets and see the shops, cafes etc in the old buildings.
There are lots of unique shops with some great items and finds - the prices seemed fairly reasonable too given the location. We stopped in a little cafe for a light lunch and then had a delicious hot chocolate a chocolate shop (literally one of the best we’ve had!).
Overall, a really lovely place to visit and explore and I’d recommend! Save for the Falls themselves, I prefer NOTL to Niagara Falls.

Se eu for apenas apreciar as vinícolas eu pago algo?
muito obrigada!

Hello! To answer your question. If you don't mind walking or are able to walk. If you don't want to pay for parking which is extremely expensive in my opinion, from the Main Street other either side you just have to drive a couple of blocks down and you will see cars parked on the street, just obey parking signs and you will be fine. As for wineries, not sure.

Do the restaurants and hotels charge the additional "tourist tax" that you get hit with in Niagara Falls?

I don't find this area to be touristy. It is quaint and comfortable. The landscaping is stunning, as are the buildings. The only thing you will notice is how busy it is, but again its quiet and friendly.

Me and my partner are going to Toronto in November we have never been before, but are looking to stay in niagra on the lake, for 4 days, is it the best place or is there better, after a long flight from London we don't want to travel to much further than a couple of hours from Toronto airport, thank you Rachel

Is parking available?
I live on Prideaux St, one block off Queen St (main street) towards the lake and there is no charge for parking, ever.
