The butterflies and gardens were amazing They limit the number allowed in but could stay as long as I wanted. Even so it was extremely crowded as you would expect it to be for such a popular family experience on a rainy day at the falls. Everyone was patient and it was a joy to watch the parents with the toung ones teach the kids to be kind and gentle when and if a butterfly landed on them or needed to be pi ked up to prevent being walked on. Joyful experience

You really should do this experience. Immersed in butterflies!!!
Our kids loved this! A very great exhibit. Especially if you have anyone that likes butterflies (and nature for that matter!). We had a 10 and 6 year old. And our 6 yr old could have spent another 2 hours in the butterfly area. You are literally immersed amongst 100's (probably 1000's) of butterflies of various species. And you can hold them or just simply walk/stand around and they will land on you! Winding paths through the conservatory take you through various vegetation areas which seemingly host different species. Also on site is a botanical gardens, which we did not really experience, but it did seem to be a nice place.

    Loved every second
Loved, loved, loved. One of my very favourite insects are beautiful butterflies I even have a tattoo of one. Husband wasn’t keen to go but was not disappointed. It was so magical with all these stunning creatures flying about and one large one landing on my husbands Rucksack which was with us for ages. Was a fantastic day out and the greenery, Plants and waterfalls were so peaceful. Well worth the visit🦋

Bit expensive and paid parking on top
Visited here based on the high ranking reviews and never been to an experience like this before. It is sighted within the botanical gardens area but we were surprised to find everyone has to pay parking despite there being so many parking areas. It cost $5 CAD for an hour. The conservatory itself was very interesting and so cool to see all the butterflies flying around and landing on you. Half an hour was really all the time needed as not that big. Whilst we enjoyed, the paying for parking was annoying and we felt the cost was a bit high at $17.50 CAD plus tax admission per adult. Other attractions in Niagara gave free parking with admission.

    Beautiful and calming
We loved our visit to the butterfly conservatory. We went early to beat the crowds and then wandered the botanical gardens after. Being surrounded by these beautiful fluttering critters really brought me calm. Remember to watch your step/be careful. Kids will also love this experience but be sure they understand to watch their step / keep their hands to themselves do the delicate butterflies are protected.

Magical immersive experience with a few drawbacks
Third visit in 20 years. Still enchanting with so many species of butterflies and moths in a tropical setting. Ticket agent was a bit snarly when I asked about a CAA discount that she said only lasted one week. Full price for one adult was almost $20 CAD including tax. Parking is $5 on top of that. The staff inside the live exhibit itself were friendly and helpful. I wish they would be more assertive with stupid visitors who think they have the right to pluck butterflies off flowers for their own pleasure. If I were in charge, anyone who did that would be kicked out immediately. Respect nature! Definitely did not like the photo taking at the beginning of the exhibit and the forced departure through the gift shop. Both of those experiences bookending the exhibit felt like an extra money grab that takes away from the genuine beauty and charm of the place. I could be interested in the gift shop naturally. Don't force me through it. Mid November was an ideal time to visit because it wasn't very crowded.

A great way to spend a cold December day.
The Butterfly Conservatory is located in a park, so you get to walk through a beautiful green space with ancient trees, and then experience butterflies and tropical plants....a wonderful day. I would also like to mention Mary, the lovely volunteer who helped us out with parking pass information and directions. We really enjoyed the entire experience.

    Part of the wonder pass
We choose to buy and pick up our wonder pass here. This place is pretty neat, it’s part of the wonder pass, if it wasn’t I don’t think is worth $15+ plus $5 parking per hour. You will only need one hour parking. 2 if you’re seeing the gardens as well. Nothing to see in December as everything was dead.

    Beautiful Butterflies.
Visited 26/05/2023. Fabulous conservatory, filled with lots of butterflies, and lots of information about them. Really pretty to see them flying around. Nice if they land on you, I just wish people would stop trying to touch them (as it can kill them).

    Wonderful Experience!
The group of senior citizens I was with today thoroughly enjoyed the short film explaining the conservatory and the process of raising the butterflies. Walking through the conservatory was rather magical! I highly recommend this.

I understand that masks were mandatory for all indoor but there should still be enough social distancing. We came for a visit on a Sunday and it was very crowded once inside. People were hanging out gathering inside to enjoy the butterflies. I was expecting it would be one way traffic and non stop to keep distance from each other. Was a bit disappointed and uncomfortable. The conservatory should consider time ticket like the Toronto Zoo to limit capacity.

The conservatory is excellent. But, for the short time of the visit, the entrance fee and the parking fee is prohibitive to many. We have visited several times since the opening, but we are never returning to Niagara Falls. We have seen most attractions many times. So, with high hotel rates, expensive poor food, high parking fees, fewer floral attractions, why return?

If you found this review informative, please indicate that it was helpful so I know where to better focus my review efforts. The Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls is a welcome addition to anyone who wishes to unwind, relax and dial down your crazy visit to the Falls. It is located several kilometers away from the Falls themselves, enroute to Niagara on the Lake. Expect to spend about an hour inside the conservatory itself. It is a well-designed complex for visiting butterflies and if lucky, an attendant will open the nursery and place a butterfly on you. There are some smaller exhibits and a gift shop in the building. In addition, the grounds themselves offer ample opportunity for a walk and to relax. You can stretch your visit out several hours this way.

Above all else, please bear in mind that this is not meant to be something to plough through in 15 minutes, as it will be terrible value for money. Take your time and immerse yourself in nature’s beauty, because once you leave, it’s back to the crazy Ontario traffic and Falls tourist traps. Once agin, if you found this review informative, please indicate that it was helpful so I know where to better focus my review efforts.

The visit to the Butterfly Conservatory was part of the Niagara Falls Wonder Pass package.

I didn’t think I would enjoy it quite as much as a I did. Again, this is a winter visit so the rest of the site is closed and, in our case, covered in snow, so relatively quiet. The other thing about the winter season is that you need your own transport to get to it; no public transport.

Once inside, you will be transfixed by butterflies everywhere and in the background the sound of the waterfall. It is warm and relaxing so find a place to settle down quietly and maybe a butterfly will land on you. You can leave your coats in the cloakroom – you won’t need them.

This is a phenomenal Butterfly Conservatory and an easy stop if you are visiting the Niagara Botanical Gardens. The Butterfly Conservatory has such a wide array of butterfly varieties and the layout is lush and beautiful. The gift shop has a nice array of items, staff are friendly, and there are both informational displays and an educational video that you can check out before entering the conservatory. You'll need to pay a small fee to park, but you'll also have access to the Niagara Botanical Gardens from this parking lot, which is free to visit. The combination of the two stops is truly well worth the cost.

Don't miss this! It is amazing how these beautiful little creatures light up the world with such colors and patterns. We visited the conservatory just before Covid hit, so our experience was perfect. When we returned home, DH planted many bushes and plants know for attracting butterflies. They worked! Now, I can see several Monarchs as well as the better known white varieties from my dining room window. They make me so happy, why do they have such a short life span? It seems so unfair. After our amazing tour of the conservatory and seeing so many different butterflies, we went into the gift shop. We purchased a large light up canvas wall art with the most beautiful photo of a Monarch on a purple flower bush. It's beautiful, not only during the day, but at night when the photo lights up. We did get one of those photos taken before you enter, but, honestly, it was well worth the cost. DH and I hope to return whenever the borders open up again. Meantime, we have our lovely butterflies who visit our bushes everyday, and our beautiful wall art to remind us of the our most enjoyable conservatory tour.

My family really enjoyed our time at the Butterfly Conservatory. If you’ve never been to an indoor “butterfly garden,” you’ll probably find this to be a unique and cathartic experience. It is not unusual for butterflies to land on you while you’re inside.

For us, this experience offered something different than the other Falls-based attractions in the area. Our kids (12 and 8) enjoyed themselves so much that they hardly noticed that there was an educational component to this particular outing.

As with all things Niagara, it was a bit crowded. However, we were there mid-day on a weekend, and I imagine that it would be a more serene experience earlier or later or on a weekday.

The Conservatory abuts the botanical gardens, which are free, so it might be nice to bring a picnic lunch (or pick up sandwiches in Niagara before going) and treat yourself to a picnic. I wish we had thought to do something like that. :)

We were visiting Niagara Falls (Canada) for a short 1-night stay and as he'd never been to the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory I said we should go (I've been before with my kids). As they are closed on Tuesday's and only open until 5pm the rest of the week we decided to drive directly there before even checking into our hotel. Upon arrival we weren't even sure it was open; there were very few cars in the parking lot and not a soul to be seen. We decided to check and low and behold it was indeed open, so away we went. Purchased our tickets and walked right in, again no one other than employees and one other couple with a child were there (it was eerily quiet). We started checking out all the amazing species of butterflies fluttering around everywhere and it was so pretty. I told my boyfriend to be careful to watch his steps as you can also mistakenly step on them as you walk around the indoor gardens. About halfway through he asked to take a photo of me sitting on a rock and I said "sure". He then proceeded to get down on one knee and pulled out a ring box. I was literally in shock, I think saying "are you serious?" more than once. Then I just started to cry and couldn't stop, and honestly everything was a blur. I *think* he said "will you do me the honour of saying yes?" or something along those lines... honestly after the first little bit I didn't really catch anything thereafter. So after what seemed like minutes, I finally said "yes" and he put the ring on. I have NEVER been so surprised or shocked, honestly it was the sweetest and most romantic moment of my life. This will forever be a special moment for the two of us, and I will never look at a butterfly again without feeling joy.

When you first step in you are amazed at the sheer number of butterflies, even though you are anticipating a lot. Such beauty all around you with both the vegetation and butterflies. I loved learning about the butterflies in the film, then seeing them before they "blossom" as well.
Great science.
Great learning.
Great joy!

I highly recommend you visit this site. You can get there with the WeGo bus.
