About
The Kingston Public Market is the oldest market in Ontario and has been providing food and a sense of community to residents of Kingston since 1801. The market is located in Kingston’s historic downtown, right behind City Hall, and is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, April through November. The market hours are from 9 am – 6 pm although some vendors arrive earlier and leave earlier. The Kingston Public Market is full of vendors selling the highest quality local produce, prepared foods, garden plants and flowers, and handmade crafts. On a typical market day in the summer you can find a huge variety of goods such as beautiful heirloom tomatoes that were left to ripen on the vine and just picked that morning, delicious homemade cinnamon buns still warm from the oven or a one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry pieces made with stones from the Kingston area. Whatever you came for, you will leave with a smile on your face and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from buying food and goods

For lunch I wanted to support a local business and settled for the curry goat meal at the Momma's kitchen african-jamaican stall. The menu board said £7 but they charged me £8, when I questioned this I was told the prices had gone up. I thought fair enough but they could have changed the pricing board, however while I was waiting for my food someone else came up to order the exact same item as me and was charged £7 which started the downhill spiral.
When I eventually got my food I was asked if I wanted a bag and I said ok but before I got it the cook came out and rudely asked where I was going to eat and said I couldn't have one since it was close by.
While the food was ok I would look elsewhere if you want to eat and support a local business as the way I was treated and suspiciously charged left a very nasty taste.

The Caribbean food stall called Mommas Kitchen was a big disappointment and would not eat there again. I ordered a Jerk chicken with chips initially but was told by the lady that the Jollof Rice would be nicer to try if we didn't have it before, so we agreed to replace chips with the rice. We paid £8.50 although the board showed £7.99 - said it would be 5/6 minutes and we said ok. Waited patiently only for her to start giving me attitude and I was just standing there. When the food was eventually ready she handed a take away container full of chips and one piece of bland chicken on top. When i questioned about the missing rice she was very rude and said..You ordered chips!!! At this point I had already given up on the whole experience and just told her whatever....I didn't have the energy to argue. Not sure what exactly happened with the order. Not worth the money and never again. Food was rubbish...

OMG, the 💩 food i ever had. Unsalty, plain rice, messed up order and dry food. The worst Caribbean style food we ever had. I vomit all out.

When you visit Kingston, Ontario, you will find an outdoor market that is located at the city hall grounds. This is like a farmer’s markets, craft markets, and flea market all rolled into one. You will be able to spend a couple of hours doing some shopping here.
It is a nice experience when you visit Kingston on your road trip.

A lovely eclectic range of food, wine and crafts. Produce includes fresh bread, cheeses and cold meats, fruit and vegetables, pastries - many and varied - teas, juices and ice creams. Undercover, so weather proof and lots of parking.

Market square genuinely has all seasons fun, from the farmers market in the summer, to skating in the winter, and being an all around central location with nice aesthetic appeal, it's a must-see while in Kingston in any season.

I drive an hour in the summer to go to this market. Parking in the area is plentiful. The market has plenty of local food producers along with artisans and antiques. It's a fun way to spend a Saturday morning.

The Kingston Market is a bustling area on Saturdays especially. Young buskers performing on fiddles and bag pipes, strolling actors in period costumes are just of few of the extras along with the great selection of produce makes this market an enjoyable visit. The market runs Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's and the vendors stay for most of the day before packing up.
We enjoyed the Saturday morning summer feature of Chef in the Square. Here you can watch local chefs demonstrate how they cook with products that are found from one of the market vendors. They even bring the farmer to the demonstration to speak about their product.

This was a nice place to go. After we had great coffee at Sipps, we strolled across the street to the market. It had fresh produce, flowers, soaps, clothing and accessories, hand made beautiful jewelry, and much more. It was a great addition to our trip to Kingston.

A mix of produce, baked goods, antiques, knick-knacks and more. Definitely worth the stop, it is in the heart of everything. Bring a drink because the sun can get a little hot, but otherwise a fun time was had by the entire family - on an adult family vacation.
