On vacation to visit Canadian friends with some friends from home, we had a morning of sightseeing at Dundurn Castle and then had a picnic lunch at the adjacent Harvey Park.

Then, we split into a groups of four and five. My group toured several parks. After Bayfront Park, we came to Sam Lawrence Park. We came in via the West Parking Lot off Concession Street.

Parking and admission were free.

The most impressive thing about this park was the commanding view of Hamilton Harbour, Hamilton, and Dundas from high up on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment.

The staircase down to the paved walkway had a lot of steps, but it was pretty easy. There was a handrail.

There was a separate accessible route for wheelchairs and strollers.

The rock retention walls, floral displays, rock garden, and scenic overlooks were impressive. The flowers were beautiful.

There were numerous Info boards throughout the park.

The Bruce Trail comes through here.

We spent about an hour here. We trekked part of this section. We'd done other sections back in the areas around St. Catharines and Queenston earlier during the trip.

We rate Sam Lawrence Park at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit.

In its peak in th seasons, or even on a nice autumn day when the native plants are in colour, it's hard to beat a walk around Sam Lawrence Park. There are many trails on which to walk on to admire the different flower beds. It's a very relaxing place that holds some history; at one time, there was a waterfall that was one of the main attractions of the gardens!

This park is easy to get to and a great place to spend some time. I suggest walking from one end to the other, and make sure you check out the whole park, because there's a lot to see.

Anytime I am in this part of town on business and need a few minutes to park than this is the place to relax. Big enough to ewalk your dog but not really suitable for a picnic with family along with good close friends. Small parking lot in this well maintained and looked after park. It has a great view of downtown Hamilton along with Lake Ontario. Close to highways that will get you quickly arounf town. Bruce Trail is nearby which I hiked with an old OPP friend numerous years ago.

While most people go here in the summer when the plants are out, I took a friend here in late November to get a view of the surrounding area. We went at night and the sky was clear and cloudless giving a great view all the way to Toronto and down the Niagara Peninsula for a bit. Really quite a spectacular view at night - certainly the lights show how built up the area is between Hamilton and Toronto.

My family and I took a nice stroll in this park and were delighted with the experience. It almost felt like we had arrived at the Edward Scissorhand Manor with its lush gardens and beautiful flowers everywhere. Very cool spot.

Just at the top of the escarpment is the beautiful Sam Lawrence Park.

This is one of the best parts to visit in the city, especially if you're looking for an amazing view of the Hamilton Skyline and harbour. On a clear day you can easily see Toronto off in the distance.

The park is a short drive from downtown and easily accessible by public transportation. There's free parking and a number of trails and other natural features to explore the area.

At the park you'll find a rock garden that's packed with lots of flowers, benches, and stone walkways. During the warmer months wildflowers and prairie grasses rise up in abundance and the landscape here at the park is amazing.

Along the trails and walkways are interpretive signs so you can learn more about the history and geology of the park. speaking of trails, from the park you can access the Bruce Trail which runs hundreds of kilometers along the Niagara escarpment.

The best part about the park is the amazing view. Try to visit at sunset if you get the chance - the panoramic views of the city with the sun shining on it are amazing!
