The Halifax Ghost Walk is a 1-3/4 hour-long walking tour which takes you through the streets of Old Halifax (founded 1749) at night.

Established in 1990, The Halifax Ghost Walk is the oldest Ghost Walk in North America.

Our narrators have led hundreds of thousands of tourists & local residents through our historic streets at night spinning tales of ghosts, pirates, hauntings, buried treasures, & other mysterious things from our city’s rich past.

It is an interesting, thought-provoking, & fun way to spend part of an evening in Halifax. Poking around our various nooks & crannies allows you to see our city in a different light.

Our tours are designed for all age groups, & are typically conducted on dark, quiet nights.

Halifax's downtown core is safe, pedestrian-friendly, & historic in appearance.

Anyone can meet at the Old Town Clock on Citadel Hill - without a reservation- on any of our regular scheduled tours

Group bookings are available all year round (10 person minimum). Start time, length of tour, & route are negotiable.

This season is our 26th.

My husband and I have been wanting to try the ghost walk for a few years. We finally got out on a Saturday night just before Halloween. We parked near Citadel Hill and the tour started at the town clock and it was $15 per person. It was about 1 1/2 hrs or more and ended on the waterfront. I... More

We met at the Old Town Clock at 2030 hours sharp. The night was chilly with clear skies. Wonderfully told stories began there and continued down to the Acadia ship on the wharf. The tour is 1.5 hours of great short stories about the area and incidents that occurred at specific spots during the tour. It is definitely worth the... More

Super interesting and historic, well worth the $15. Our guide Dusty was captivating, and told tales with a great energy and enthusiasm, and gave the city and it's history a unique (and occasionally chilling) context. If you're just getting to know Halifax, it also starts in a beautiful part of the city at the top of Citadel Hill, and ends... More

Are you thinking about joining the Ghost Walk? Or always wanted to and haven't found the time? Well, this is the year to make it!! Attended with family of all ages and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Young ones were enthralled and excited. Great to learn a bit more about the history of Halifax. And so much fun to participate... More

Last night 4 of us found ourselves in Halifax with one last unplanned evening. One of us wanted to go on the Halifax Ghost Walk, but the other three of us did not. Because we could not come up with any better suggestions, we went - and I have to say it was a very surprising experience! I have never... More

With all the history in Halifax we decided to do a Ghost tour. Chose this one because it is the oldest ghost tour in North America. We had Dusty as our guide. Very theatrical person, he doesn't just tell you a story, he lives the story! It is a pretty good hike so be prepared to walk. You start at... More

Have done a few ghost walks and this one was good. Get to see a few areas of halifax harbour, downtown and the citadel. Interesting stories of the beginning of Halifax and also of the Halifax harbour explosion that caused much damage and claimed many lives.

Dusty was very... theatrical, bordering on hokey. His stories took 10 minutes longer to tell than the content actually necessitated, heavy in repetition. Definitely not worth the money ($20/person). This was also our 5th visit to Halifax as my sister studies there so we do know the city quite well, so it might have enjoyed this tour more if we... More

Dusty was a very good storyteller. His style and volume kept the audience listening closely to his words. The stories were all relevant to Halifax, and there was a good sprinkling of local history included. Appropriate locations were used, and I particularly liked the ending on one of the quays in the harbour. The rain shower and the mist added... More
