When you visit Canada, Nova Scotia and especially Halifax, you'll need to go and see the Pier 21 Museum. Stand in the hallway where immigrants' first steps in the Canadian territory were made, I was there during this exhibition about " Immigrants' first day in Canada" very touching one..

If you're Canadian, you NEED to visit this museum. The name of the museum doesn't do it justice. Through the journey of this museum you will see a huge part of Canadian history and fully understand our place in the world, especially post-WWII. Pier 21 is a historic gem that must be respected and anyone with an immigrant past, will... More

This museum is about history and immigration and was something especially interesting for us as my wife's grandparents came to Canada many years ago via Halifax and my great great grandparents via Halifax. There is an office with historians who try to help link and find your ancestors who came over There was a tour by a volunteer guide that... More

Halifax is a small city, but this facility is quite nice and surprising. It's well thought out and geared to all ages.

Enjoyed our visit to this amazing piece of Halifax heritage. Lots of information and well laid out. Visited the archive center where the staff was able to find the ship my mother sailed on included photographs, manifest and ship menus. What a great discovery!!

Fantastic tour guide, George from the Netherlands, who himself immigrated over 50 years ago. He took us through the process of how displaced people and refugees managed to rebuild their lives in an accepting country. The artifacts ate amazing and there's a research centre where you could find out about your own ancestors. The pictures show recreations of the Immigration... More

Great visit, very emotional, would go back and spend more time. Friends actually found their grandmothers name on one of the boats that came across for the UK, staff were friendly and fast and interesting to see all the personal letters and displays.

Our parents arrived in Halifax in the 1950's. The tour took us back in time in our parents shoes. It can get a little emotional at times.

We went to this museum 1 hour before it closed thinking we will have more than enough time to see everything.. But after 10 min I realised there's so much to see so we asked if we could leave right away and come back tomorrow morning - the staff were kind enough to say yes to that. They said visitors...
