We visited the Quaker House at a bad time. We tried to go and found they close for lunch for an hour. When we got there there were at least 20 children running absolutely wild in there, jumping on the furniture, touching everything. Whoever thought...More

Seriously, though. Our tour guide (didn't catch his name) knew an uncomfortable amount about the Quakers despite not being a Quaker himself. It's a very well maintained museum and we learnt a lot about Quakers. The tour didn't take long at all (maybe thirty minutes?)...More

This guided tour conducted by staff in Quaker period 1780s dress, explores a wealthy whale merchant and his family’s home. Lots of information here for adults and children.

If you like small house type museums the Quaker House in Dartmouth is worth visiting. This is a chapter of Canadian and local Dartmouth history that I did not know. Quakers, Nantucket Whalers and one of the oldest dwellings still existing in the area (1764?)....More

This is a very small place and easy to miss on Ochterloney Street basically across from the Church. This is jammed full of interesting facts and items used in the Whaling industry and the history of the Quakers here in Nova Scotia.
