Sit and Watch versus Hunting

I was very much looking forward to out time at Aurora Village, but was disappointed. It breaks my heart to give this feedback, because it is a beautiful location. The dinner was average at best and service was poor. The fish chowder made my husband ill. Viewing of the Aurora was accompanied by smashing us into a tepee with at... More

I would like to suggest aurora visitors spent 1 night at this campus, because I like to have their tent in Picture. I go 2 nights with another local tour because they are chasing aurora. If lucky you will see aurora on campus, but aurora is flowing. The village is great but everything cost $$$. I got free pictures from... More

First let me say that Carmen our guide the first night was kind and gracious but on the second and third night the non-Japanese guests had to walk down an icy driveway to get to the bus and our Japanese tour guide could only say "So Sorry." My father -in-law and mother-in-law are 85 and 82 and should not have... More

This is more relaxing and comfortable than aurora hunting because of the onsite facilities (warm tents and washrooms), more suitable with small children. However, don't like "have to buy" professional picture once is taken whether there's aurora or not. So, be prepared to have your own photo equipment. Hunting provides a better chance of seeing the aurora.

For £126 per person we got picked up by a coach jammed full of tourists and got driven 40 minutes away to aurora village. We sat in a teepee with everyone on our coach and went out to take photos of the lights. The night we went the lights appeared at 10 and only lasted 30 minutes so we just... More

We booked three nights hotel at explorer hotel and two night tours from Aurora village. Their quality is very good, just you are treated as a number, settle tourists in different temp by race which make me feel quite uncomfortable. I highly recommend the snowshoeing and Dogsledding activities. Spending one day in this village is quite worth it. Snowshoeing is... More

I came to Yellowknife and didn't see the Northern Lights, which was fine but I found myself getting rather bored at this place. Basically, you're assigned to a Tipi and wait for the Aurora to start but there is never a guarantee that it will. So there I stayed for four hours. It would be great if alternate entertainment were... More

Great for tourist, but better in winter. The restaurant closed in late 2015. You can drive there, but they prefer that you use their bus service.

They're little pricey, but worth visiting at least for a night. Teepees look great on photos, five hills are different in every way so you will never get tired of. You can also extend your night if the Northern lights are flaring up.
