I had no idea this place was also the Visitor’s Centre. It was really cool getting a City of Yellowknife (literally a little yellow knife) pin and a certificate for crossing the 60th parallel. In January, the park was also beautiful. It was definitely worth the quick stop and I solidly recommend stopping here if it is your first time in Yellowknife.

City Hall is the current home of the visitors centre which has an arctic fox and polar bear display which is as close as a tourist will get to one, so worth the visit.
The trail from city hall connects to the museum and to the legislative assembly in a short 1-2 km paved walk. Both the museum and legislative assembly are a must see so it is nice to be able to walk to them instead of taking a cab.
The trail in the opposite direction is paved all the way to the hospital and has lots of spots to stop and sit and enjoy views of the lake and aquaculture. You can go entirely around the lake, but some parts aren't paved.
Tuesday's are the farmers market and that should not be missed. Yummy food vendors mean you can sample a little of everything- and since Yellowknife boasts food from Ethiopia to traditional bannock there is something for everyone.

Although I did see the beautiful Christmas lights in the park driving by at night, I didn't spend a lot of time outside. I just wanted people to know that if you go to the visitor's center you can get a certificate that you were above the 60th parallel and a Yellowknife pin to wear. They also have maps with good spots where you can get off the road and observe the aurora if you want to do that on your own. The man at the desk was extremely informative.

Yellowknife City Hall is one of the local attractions that you have to visit downtown. The building is small and simple, with a fairly big "Welcome to Yellowknife" sign outside that is good for taking pictures with. Inside is a small visitors centre where you can pick up pamphlets or get information about local activities. They also give you a certificate saying that you've visited Yellowknife.
The park behind was covered in snow at the time we visited, so I cannot comment on it.

This Farmers Market is held every Tuesday afternoon from 5:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is situated in the Park beside City Hall. Although it is called a farmers market, there are only a few stands with produce. The majority are food stalls selling all sorts of dishes from India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, local aboriginal treats, baked goods and more. Great place to walking around and eating your evening meal while walking around. Very jolly atmosphere. There is also a studio that sells local pottery.

I have been to City hall and the people there are great. I was also to the park and it is a lovely park. There is a beautiful garden there as well. It is a really nice place to spend an afternoon. There is also a nice walking trail there.

Visit here to learn more about Yellowknife and what to see and do while you are here. Or even to get directions, like I did. The employees are very friendly and helpful. You will even receive a Yellowknife pin and certificate to take home with you. Walk around outside, see the musk ox and the park too

The two staff at the visitor's centre, located in the basement of City Hall were so sweet and helpful. Gave us great information recommendations for meals and activities. Greatly appreciated the help.

Great place to take a walk and great view of Frame Lake. Was here when it was cold but it would be a great place for a picnic.
