Old Town is an interesting section of Yellowknife - old-style houses, restaurants and shops. Keep in mind Yellowknife is a very small town (20,000 pop) so this isn’t equivalent to a substantial walking quarter like you might find in a major city, but just a...More

The old town is a must see. Although it has lost a lot of its original history there are some unique shops down there and a lot of very interesting people. The pilots monument is a place you have to go at sun rise or...More

The old town is worth to visit. The beautiful Great Slave Lake is just around. The town was filled with yellow leaves during the time of my visit. The Pilot Lighthouse is a good place to overlook the Great Slave Lake.

Walking out on Great Slave Lake for a closer look at the houseboats and the ice inukshuks is a must. The shops feature local products from furs and diamonds to Arctic Char Antipasto. Don’t let the cold keep you in!

I visit pilot's monument there on November, no cafe or shop open yet, all you can do is to climb up stairs for some photo in freezing temperature and wind. The scenery around is just average.

Old town is a mix of old and new, some of the history of the city is evident with historical places like the old Wardair dock, Weaver and Devore, the Wildcat cafe and Bullocks.

Yellowknife is small so it's an easy walk from downtown or you could drive and park. There are some small galleries and gift shops, infamous restaurants and hidden laneways with historical significance and cultural artwork all over the place. It's definitely worth taking some time...More

It is within walking distance from downtown But it is spread out so I would recommend renting a car to see it properly. There are great views from Pilots Monument, Good fun eclectic restaurants and shops that are full of culture, it may not be...More
