Located minutes from downtown Winnipeg, Fort Gibraltar is an ideal venue for hosting a variety of events: weddings, corporate meetings, private functions, group tours and more! Historical tours and Three rooms are available year-round, offering modern facilities in an historical setting. (reservation requires) In the summer, Fort Gibraltar is also a living history museum offering interactive and educational guided tours about the fur trade era. Our costumed interpreters relive the daily life of the inhabitants of the site in 1815 as you visit significant buildings in the fort such as the blacksmith shop, the winterer's cabin and the trading post. In February, the historical venue is at the heart of the largest winter festival in Western Canada, the Festival du Voyageur.

I attended this interesting site during an evening private event. It offered an interesting, educational and fun atmosphere, during which time we visited each small cabin to learn about the history of the Fort, Winnipeg, and the fur trade from knowledgable actors. The evening was complimented by outdoor and indoor music, outdoor fire pits, food/drinks and dancing, such a unique... More

This is a great place, and an attraction that is not to be missed for anyone interested in looking back at the era of the fur traders. The fort offers an historical perspective and for casual visitors a very interesting glimpse into pioneer life. For residents fortunate enough to go to Fort Gibraltar for a dinner function, it makes the... More

My partner and I had our wedding here in November, and it was a delightful experience. The manager, Angie, was clear and organized during the process of planning our wedding, and all my questions were answered. Connie helped us out with some decorations-- candles on the mantle and in the fireplace, and cafe lighting on every second beam were perfect... More

I love touring old forts. We went to Fort Gibraltar as part of a tour package in conjunction with a conference I attended in Winnipeg. At the Fort we were given a history lesson by one of the workers who, by the way, were all dressed in period costume while we participated in a beer and food tasting event. He... More

Thanks, Michael. Glad you enjoyed. Our interpreters are very knowledgeable and definitely have a contagious "Joie de vivre". We have many interpretive stations and cabins including the Blacksmith, Workshop, Winterer's Cabin, Trading Post, Storage shed and even a large garden in the summer. Guests definitely step back in time when they enter Fort Gibraltar. More
