The Prince of Whales whalewatching tours is a bit more expensive than other companies (we payed 120CAD/pers) but they go out of their way to get you an excellent experience. As we were here in June there were not so many people to do a tour so we had to wait untill there were 5 people to do a tour... More

traveladdict3500, thanks so much for your great review! I'm thrilled your travel addiction brought you to the beautiful west coast. Things can be tricky in the shoulder season as we need to reach a minimum number of bookings to cover our costs. Our number one cost is fuel and unfortunately we never quite know where the whales are, and therefore... More

My boyfriend and I went on the zodiac open-aired boat today and had an incredible day. The weather was perfect (blue skies), the skipper, Joe, was excellent, really passionate and knowledgeable about marine wildlife, and the tour itself was awesome. We saw humpacks whales, orcas, sealions, harbour seals and a bald eagle - definitely ticked a few off the bucket... More

Briana, Thanks for an awesome review! Sounds like an epic winter adventure! Joe came strait from your trip to our annual holiday party and he told us all about not only the great wildlife he saw, but also his awesome passengers who were up for anything! We hope to host you and your boyfriend if your in town again, maybe... More

We went on the Zodiac tour while on vacation in April. Not only did we see an Orca, we saw he resident J Pod, including multiple calves! We had the most amazing time watching these beauties!!! (Just be careful if you're prone to motion sickness! Zodiac isn't for you if you want to avoid getting sick!)

Hannah, Thanks for your awesome review! J pod is definitely our most famous group of whales and I'm thrilled you had the opportunity to view them. The zodiacs can definitely get bumpy, and that adventurous ride isn't for everyone! Sea sickness is rarely a problem for us since our boats are very well designed to avoid it: open boats are... WOW Fantastic. The Zodiac boats are amazing for whale watching. Staff are lovely, warm and welcoming. A really enjoyable day. We seen more than one Humpback and got some brilliant photos, videos and memories. We didn't book with a lot of notice and the staff worked really hard to accommodate us! Wonderful customer service and flexibility. Thank you Prince of... More

Lillbidi, Thank you so much for such a wonderful review! It's really hard not to be enthusiastic when you work in such an exciting field like whale watching! Moving in to our shoulder season things are slowing down compared to the summer months, but as you noted, that doesn't mean there isn't anything to see! Great to hear you enjoyed... More

I have been on many whale watches but the one I took recently was beyond words spectacular. We were VERY glad that we went on a zodiac and outfitted in attire that kept us dry and warm ---- and safe should one go overboard. We saw many many killer whales but the best was yet to come when our guide... More

JMS23, Thanks for the awesome review! Whale watching itself is a once in a lifetime experience for many of our passengers, but it gives us so much joy to hear that even after multiple trips Prince of Whales continues to deliver spectacular whale sightings. We hear from many people that those zodiacs suits are half the fun as well, and... More

Though there were many whales to be seen, they overcrowd the boats. be prepared, especially with young children, to fight to the front of the rails, if you want to see.

Kyle, I'm so sorry you felt the boat was over-crowded. Of course from a safety perspective we never put more passengers on the boat than has been approved by Transport Canada. I've worked on the boats for several years and here's what I can say about the situation. While there is certainly ample room on the boat for 74 people,... More

We had a fantastic time! The crew were fantastic, especially Andrea who was really knowledgable and passionate about the Orca and Humpbacks that we saw. A very memorable experience.

This company is incredible! Our guide, Darren, was very knowledgeable about the southern resident pods and other local wildlife. He was able to identify most of the whales, and share a bit of their history; his narrative brought the experience to life! Would definitely recommend this experience, and our wonderful guide, to anyone - locals and tourists alike.

I went on a zodiac, and a huge group of people had cancelled so there were only 4 of us on the boat (impressed that they didn't cancel the trip!) so it was a very intimate experience. We found a humpback and her calf, and followed them as they went towards the open pacific. It was a bit rough on... More
