This was my 11th visit to Victoria Canada. I have never done this tour before and I’m so glad I did. It was a beautiful evening around 51 degrees. The commentary was very well done, the route was perfect and we were able to see the Parliament and a lot of the Victorian homes including the James Bay neighborhood. The horses pranced so graciously that you could hardly feel the trolley movement. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the ride - there is no walking except to and from the ship. Lastly, there is a gift shop near the immigration office and the entrance back to the ship that sells nearly everything you’d find in the town. It’s too bad they took away the self-service passport stamp due to Covid-19.

I’m not one to typically do reviews, however, I felt it was my obligation based on my positive experience.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Hannah and the team over at Victoria Carriage Tours to organize a surprise engagement.

They went above and beyond expectations and even took a chance with the “Princess Carriage” during the rainy season; to ensure the moment was unforgettable for my fiancé.

If you are looking to book a carriage service you need go no further than Victoria Carriage Tours.

I always wanted to take a carriage ride and Victoria was a beautiful city to do it. Our driver Hadley and our horse Zeke and the Carriage cut a beautiful sight. Hadley narrated our night tour, she was very formative and knowledgeable. All four of us enjoyed our time spent on the carriage ride. I am only sorry we could not take a longer tour.

Wendy and ‘Handsome Clyde’ provided a very relaxing 90 minute tour of some of Victoria’s historic sights and beautiful old neighbourhoods. It was a tranquil ride that provided a view of established residential neighborhoods, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the family home of Emily Carr, the Legislature, and parts of Beacon Hill. Highly recommend for a quiet sightseeing alternative.

Due to time constraint we only had time for the short carriage ride. I wish we could have had more time. Hannah provided lots of fun interesting facts along the ride. Next time we will make sure to schedule one of the longer tours.

We have looked at this attraction every time we have been to Victoria but have never had the time until now. I'm sorry we haven't done it sooner. Hannah and Belle made a great team. Hannah narrated the stories and Belle pulled us through the streets around Beacon Park and the James Bay area. Hannah did a fantastic job telling us about the history of the areas we visited. She shared interesting tidbits that may not be in the guidebooks making it a trip to remember. Thanks ever so much!

Thanks so much for your review! We love hearing about both our 2 and 4 legged staff members helping visitors make wonderful memories. Sometimes people return years later and request the same horse they had the first time which we always find very heart warming. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with both Hannah and Belle!

Landed in Victoria BC with no plans at all. Walked to city from ship. Saw the Carriages and discussed what it was all about. We saw the entire city and more then any other tours could have given us. Montana our driver really interesting and informative. Beatty the horse just to smart.
Don't pass it up.

Thank for you the review! Sometimes no plans are the best plans, and we're happy to hear that Montana and Betty were excellent city guides. We hope you're able to visit the city again!

We took the tour when our cruise ship docked in the early evening. Seemed a perfect way to see Victoria when time was limited and it was. The carriage driver was fantastic and the city is beautiful. It was a cool evening, but the carriage cam equipped with warm blankets to stay toasty. Great service and a beautiful town!

We were able to call and reserve a 7:00 pm carriage ride and they picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. (Magnolia Hotel & Spa). We took the 30 minute By The Sea tour. We saw downtown, the Capitol Building, and the James Bay area which was historical homes (The Carr House). We also rode by where the cruise ships are docked and then back into town and to our hotel. We tipped our drive in cash and the fee for the ride was put on our card which we used to hold the reservation. Thank you Victoria Carriage Tours for starting our vacation off right!!

This tour needs to be shut down. The horses are so overworked and very tired. So sad.
Employee was pleasant enough but apparently company is not good to staff or horses.

We are sorry to hear your thoughts on our company. Whether or not you went for a tour, we would like to acknowledge that we value our staff and horses to the highest standard, and ensure all horses are kept happy and healthy. This is achieved through personalized veterinary care, farrier service, ample living space, dietary needs, herd socialization and daily/monthly/yearly working statistics for each individual horse as to ensure their fitness without being overworked. In addition, our equine family consists of draft-bred horses, a breed that has an incredibly calm and laid-back demeanour, which can be perceived as "tired," though they simply go through life at a slower pace. Again, we value our staff and the compassion they bring to their four-legged colleagues. It is truly a team effort to ensure our company operates to the highest international standard for carriage operations, as well as exceeding standards set by the City of Victoria and the BCSPCA (our watchdog for animal wellbeing).
