The performance of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar is the reason for the excellent rating. Fine performances throughout of a notable modern work. The Royal Theatre itself rates a very good rating. It's a classic movie palace of a century ago and never really meant for opera. The pit is too small and shallow, for example. Still, it serves quite nicely.

I love the Royal Theater because I performed a dance here with my school group when I was in middle school, and I am a graduate now! It is a large theater and well maintained.

We went to this theatre for the first time to watch the play Come from Away. We sat in the upper balcony, middle section and the acoustics were fantastic as well as full view of the stage.
Of course the play was superbly done!!!

We attended a Victoria Symphony concert and enjoyed brilliant performances of the Ravel G Major concerto, with John Kimura Parker as the soloist, and Sibelius's First Symphony. The seats we had -- made available to us by friends -- were the best I've had anywhere in years: front row of the orchestra, with lots of leg room. Although originally designed as a movie theatre, the Royal has good acoustics and serves nicely as a venue for concerts and operas -- we attended one here three years ago. As I noted at that time, the washrooms are quite inadequate, but that is the only point of criticism.

We attended a Gordon Lightfoot show and the theater was great. It's older but sight lines are all good and it's small enough you don't have to worry about spending half an hour getting out after the show.

Just love seeing the Victoria Opera in here - it is such an intimate and beautiful Opera House ..there is no bad seat in the house but we love being mid centre downstairs.

Saw Tig Notaro last Saturday and we sat up in the balcony. The seats were great. No blind spots and the sound was great.

Our family of 4 (kids 11 and 14) enjoyed seeing the new adaptation of The Nutcracker. I was really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint!
