Chris Adams did an outstanding job sharing his knowledge of the many aspects of Victoria's Chinatown. The information inside both inside and outside the buildings was wonderful. Great headsets so we can all hear and well paced for both the active and strollers.

My parents and I went on the walking tour this morning and it was fantastic. Our guide, Kate, was knowledgeable, personable and brought the stories of this fascinating Oak Bay neighbourhood to life. The tour was 90 minutes with what I'd call a light amount of walking. The cost was $15 for adults and $13 for seniors. My parents and... More

We took the "Christmas in Old Victoria" tour presented by Discover the Past. The tour leader, Kate, is a local product whose studies and travels have returned her to her birthplace. She is well studied, fascinating, and quite the story teller. Of particular interest was her self-entitled the Best Love Story in all Victoria's history. The whole tour group responded... More

The walking tour provided great insights into the history of Chinese settlement during the mid - late 19th century in Victoria and the influence of the Chinese culture today. We gained an understanding of the importance of the Chinese workers in establishing the economy of early Victoria. Included information about education of Chinese students and a visit to the Chinese... More

We went on the Chinatown and Rockland walking tours and I cannot say enough great about both tours as they were the highlights of our trip. John Adams was the consummate tour guide! It was quickly apparent that he did not memorize the history, but had studied it and in some cases that he actually lived it! We walked through... More

John Adams was our tour guide and one of the advantages he has is that he grew up in this neighborhood. He narrated a ton of history, from how the Chinese immigrants first arrived to the current times when very few Chinese live in Chinatown. We learned about some prominent leaders with tidbits of their family history. The Chinese Temple... More

My family and I took two of these tours during our stay in Victoria--the Ghost Walk and the Smugglers & Rum-Runners. We had both Chris and John as our guides--and found both provided excellent tours. Even for a non-believer like myself, the Ghost Walk was entertaining and informative--providing back-alley insight into Victoria's history. I really appreciated the headsets provided for... More

Chris is exceptionally knowledgeable, but, more importantly, he's extremely adept at presenting the stories, history, and tour in a friendly and very accessible manner. Enough so that it's enjoyable and educational for adults and kids. The "Family" rate is an incredible bargain. Chinatown in Victoria is fascinating, and it's clear that Chris knows its history, people, culture, etc. intimately and... More

John Adams is both knowledgeable & entertaining! Fan Tan Alley, the pearl, the murals, history of the tongs. Mostly tourist shops but tons of history that John relayed and no one missed a word through the use of the FM system used. Worth the time and $15. Recommend.

We joined Chris at the planned time and were whisked into a seriously full and informative tour of China Town. What a lot of detail and interesting anecdotes. Chris was on task but aware of the need to duck into a shop or temple long enough to warm up. We were treated to the best honey bun "in the world"... More
