Very walkable

I love Vancouver downtown! Very clean and walkable as well as safe. So many things to see and do. Shopping, museums, art galleries. You name it.

We were lucky enough to enjoy a nice partial sunny day after many of rain in Vancouver. The city is clean, looks very new and harmonic, with all the buildings matching, and it is full of shops and restaurants. The views from Coal Harbour were gorgeous! We felt safe all the time. We will visit Vancouver again in a few... More

Vancouver's urban planners get global attention for buildings and the innovation of mixed usage zoning. Here people work, dwell and play. Although there should be more, there are parks and mini-parks that break up the high rise cliffs. Upscale shopping tends to be on Robson and Alberni Streets between Burarrd and Bute. The Vancouver Art Gallery is surrounded by coffee... More

Not much around downtown in terms of great sightseeing. Lots of shops and restaurants and a couple of malls.

We walked most of the day & took local buses & are 3 types of food in 1 day. Some work class restaurants, float tanks, lots of yoga. The shopping was amazing with lots of choices also. One of our favourite cites to visit. On Sunday in one area lots of local vendors selling their goods also. Great experience

Vancouver is such an easy city to explore on foot. In doing so there is a surprise round every corner, be it amazing buildings, nice restaurants, scenic views or local history. Make the most of your stay and enjoy the exercise - you will be well rewarded.

Taking opportunity of school break we decided to visit VCR and stayed mostly in center with some escape to Kitsilano and Burnaby. We liked VCR very much, good air, very nice people, polite, careful (we live in Shanghai) good public transportation network, good restaurants. It is not by coincidence that VCR is on top for life quality in the world.... More

Came back for an annual romantic weekend with hubby. Vancouver is a beautiful city, the perfect setting for a romantic escape. The walks along the river are peaceful and serene. Grab a cup of coffee, sit, and watch the wildlife, the sea planes, the ferrys. Just beautiful. If you can, stay at the Fairmont Pacific Rim and enjoy the rooftop... More

We had very little trouble finding taxis in downtown Vancouver and the area was really beautiful. Nice restaurants and interesting shops all around.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
