I love going downtown. It has it's flaws, but the over all look of the city nestled against the beauty of the mountains and surrounded by the ocean makes it special. Lots of good restaurants. So pretty in the spring when the dutch bulbs come up and the cherry trees and magnolias are in bloom.

Very easy to walk around downtown area with interesting stops along the way. We walked for blocks just for the heck of it.

Clean and very safe for a large city. Diversified shopping opportunities. Recommend using public transit.

Plenty to see along the waterfront in particular. Public transit options are pretty good. I used Google Map to get the right combination of bus/train.

This was my first trip to Vancouver and always thought it was a large city. I was quite surprised to find it was much smaller. Not disappointingly so though. It is a very clean city on th whole and very friendly. It has a multitude of visitors from many parts of the world but especially South Korea and China. The... More

Go downtown and see the seaplanes landing, watch the ships set sail loaded with passengers. Have a drink or meal by the water in the many cafes and restaurants. Walk along the paved area or the designated bicycle path. Walk uphill to the shopping areas.

We had a few days to get around Vancoover so explored places like Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Bridge, both worth seeing, but owntown is more of a working place. Plenty of good hotels and terrific places to eat, but like most towns having poorer areas with homeless prople and beggars. Don't let that put you off however, the waterfront... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
