The sound experience in this place is amazing. Built in an oval shape the ceiling can be "tuned" much like the strings of an instrument via computer programming during a performance. The magic unfolds above you while you remain transfixed on the incredible show on stage.....ok i did sneak a few peeks so I could better understand how this works.... More

I was privileged to attend the first concert in this theatre. Over the years, regardless of the performance, I have been thrilled by the acoustic level, the comfort and the variety of the performers/performances. Perhaps the audience is too relaxed and could honour our guests with more thought to their attendance attire. A great venue deserves a certain formality.

We attend several concerts per year. The seats are comfortable. The sound and acoustics are fabulous. The only thing is that parking at UBC is a money grab all the time 24 hours a day and the enforcement is a killer.

I have been to many many musical concerts at the Chan Centre. I am always amazed at what a spectacular facility this structure the Chan family has gifted to the citizens of Vancouver. The 1200 seat concert hall has no bad seats and the fantastic acoustics make it my favourite venue for all un amplified music. It will sound better... More

Except for the parking costs this is a great venue for music. We try and book a concert several times a year. The seating is good. The sound and acoustics are quite great. We love the venue.

The theatre has not a poor seat in the house. I have enjoyed concerts from every vantage point - even on the stage. The challenge is getting there from many points in Vancouver. The best is to drive and pay for parking in the garage. I like to arrive early as the rose garden is close by and even in... More

In December 2015 we attended Festive Cantatas – Praetorius Christmas Vespers by Early Music Vancouver at the Chan Centre. As always, the sound in that space was wonderful. It's also visually stunning. We had excellent sight lines from our balcony seats. There is a pay parking lot nearby (and you can pay by phone to avoid lineups at the machines).... More

If you have an opportunity to attend a concert at the Chan Centre at UBC don't miss it! I love everything about this venue - great acoustics, original architecture, cozy and comfortable seats. I recommend getting there early and also visiting the Rose Garden next door and the UBC Anthropology Museum. If you don't mind walking a couple of blocks... More

Was able to get side balcony seats close to stage for less than I had imagined. Saw an opera, was also impressed with the acoustics. Easy parking in parkade, too. Huge variety of productions/concerts.
