Fun way to view the skyline
Hop-on-hop off ferries around False Creek are a lovely way to look at all the amazing modern apartment buildings. Coupled with the stops to explore different parts of the city. Definite must when in Vancouver.

    Long walk along the water
Lovely walk in the rain. Got to see the inlet, lots of boats, small ferries, seals, birds, Canada geese. Don’t forget to get some gelato, lunch at Sunny side cafe, and try the wonderful salmon at Longliner fish stall at Granville island market

Exercise and Sight-seeing All In One!
Probably too much to walk all of False Creek at once, I concentrated this trip on the less-travelled south side from Science World to Granville Island. Depending on how many times you stop to sight-see, a brisk walker should be able to do the round trip in about an hour. Easily accessible by Skytrain at Terminal and Main. The surface is flat, wide, and separated from cyclists (see photos). Among other things, you will see the Science World Dome, BC Place, Olympic Village, and boats Boats BOATS! I especially enjoyed the breeze wafting the sea air in from the west. Great for locals and tourists alike.

Granville island touristy and overly expensive

The review below, by "Pookie Cake" gives a comprehensive and accurate history of the name derivation and some previous uses. So, rather than plagiarize what she(?) said, I would encourage you to read hers; and I'll focus on more current issues.
Tourists should DEFINITELY include this area in their plans. Easily accessible by public transit, a person can walk, cycle or wheel chair the segregated pathway around the north side quite easily (I'm not that familiar with the south side) starting in the Yaletown neighbourhood.
Stop to marvel at the natural beauty, but also consider the work of town planners (and many other visionaries) who redeveloped this area from heavy industrial in the space of two generations. Some evidence remains, such as the roundhouse (who knew this was once a railway yard?) and the still operating cement plant on Granville Island.
See various photographs and look for infoplaques along the way.
If you walk west, you can continue to Stanley Park!

While autumn in Vancouver can often be cold and damp, if you are fortunate enough to find a dry day, come walk False Creek. since I didn't have time to do the whole thing, I concentrated on the SE corner, where I had appointments. Some great views from here, both natural and man-made (please see photos). Couple these sights with a flat walking surface and the fresh sea air, and you have a great walk for local and tourist alike.

I had booked a Paddle guided tour around False Creek but I didn’t know what to expect. I just loved it! It was a 2-hour tour with a great guide(Katie, from Vancouver Water Adventures) and it was unbelievable. We saw many beautiful spots and enjoyed this tour around the False Creek. If you like paddling or even kayaking, you will just love this.
Highly recommend!

Bought an all day pass on Aquabus. Stopped on Granville Island on a busy Sunday. Stooped at another dock and had a beer and snack. Nice way to move around on a nice day when you are walked out. Always nice to get on the water.

False Creek is a wonderful water highway through which to travel and see so much of Vancouver. Getting on a ferry or aquabus is a great way to travel and see many of the wonders on offer.

The seawall along False Creek is a great place to stroll or walk. It is far more quiet than the seawall at Stanley Park and it also offers you beautiful vistas of the city. You come across several playgrounds so it is a nice outing with the children. If you are getting too tired, you can take a ferry back! Only disadvantage: there a not so many public washrooms along the walk.
