Hi Jerry, There are a few options depending on budget, time, and what you'd like to see. The fastest option in getting between Vancouver Victoria is a float plane or helicopter flight which takes about 35 minutes one way, and costs about $200 each way, you can go for about $150 if you find a sale fare. The next easiest option would be to take a sightseeing tour, there are many companies that pick up from downtown Vancouver or Richmond- then take the ferry across allowing for free time in Victoria and Butchart Gardens for about $210 per person (this tour is usually about 13 hours round trip) If you are looking for transportation only (and not particularly interested in Butchart Gardens, as mentioned previously it is not in downtown Victoria) you could do the BC Ferries Connector that drives from the main bus station in Vancouver onto the ferry and into downtown Victoria, they have limited departure times in the off-season making a return trip difficult, but during the Summer you can get there and back in one day. It's about $70 one way and takes about 4 hours each direction. The V2V passenger ferry is another option but does not allow for a round trip for much of the year as the ferry departs Vancouver in the afternoon and the journey is about 3-3.5 hours each direction and costs about $120 each way. You could also do a combination of a flight and any of these options to make your day shorter, as well as the Prince of Whales tour as previously mentioned that runs from the end of May until September. Hope this helps.
