Attended the 4pm Sunday Mass; it was the 1962 missal. What a wonderful experience. The congregation was large, respectful of the liturgy and very diverse. A sincere and relevant homily, from a thoughtful priest. A wonderful place to maintain the Church’s authentic faith.

Given the stressful times in which we live, a bit of peace and quiet comes at a premium, despite its importance to one's well-being. That's why, whenever in downtown Vancouver, I stop here and just sit for twenty minutes or so. Not only rest the knees and ankles, but the sub-conscious too. So, downtown and stressed out? Drop in here, I believe you'll be glad you did.
btw: terrific 19 th century architecture too!

When on a trip to Vancouver to do some business, I always looked forward to some meditation time in this beautiful edifice with a serene and peaceful interior. I missed being able to do this during the Covid closure, and was so glad to see it open again. There were very few people inside, so I was able to take a few photos and still respect their privacy. So, even if you don't need a de-stresser, come and marvel at the architecture and workmanship.

Opened in 1900, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is an architectural and spiritual gem in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Built in the Gothic Revival-style, the building’s impressive stone exterior, with its twin spires (placed at differing heights), mirrors the much larger cathedrals of Europe . . . just in a much less grandiose way. Still, this impressive Vancouver heritage building welcomes all who enter its doors.

From the moment you walk in, one cannot help but feel a sense of ease and calm. The grand interior columns, made of red Scagliola marble, concomitant with the ribbing of the cathedral’s ceiling, create a subtle air of elegance. The 20+ stained glass windows allow natural light to filter into the cathedral, warming the grounds with sun and spirit. I’ve said before that I’m far from religious, but when you’re in a place like this, a feeling of peace falls over you.

When I visited the cathedral, it was late in the afternoon – around 4PM – and so was fairly quiet. There were a few patrons praying and some admiring the architecture. For me, it was good to sit in the pews and take a few moments to reflect on the orders of the day and life generally. The space is welcoming and warm – something we could all use at one point or another.

Nice church to stop in and admire the beautiful stained glass windows. Also nice to just sit and relax and take a break while walking around downtown.

This is a nice looking building both inside and out. It provides a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. Look out for the statue of the sleeping homeless man just across from the entrance.

Went to Mass here on Sunday, and the stained glass was absolutely beautiful. Be aware much of the Mass is in Latin.
