The area
Neighbourhood: Stanley Park
Stanley Park is Vancouver's premier spot to get up close and personal with nature and animals. The grassy expanse offers outdoor teahouses and stunning views, beachfront hideaways and splash parks. It is a typical getaway spot for friends and families, especially as it is home to Vancouver's aquarium, and some of its best equestrian outlets.

We stopped here for lunch on our cycle day around the island. It's a lovely beach, lots of tree logs which we used fir sitting. The sea is cold, but that we expected. Soft sand and really peaceful.

Clean beach, natural log seats, well maintained park is perfect for an Autumn stroll with a friend. Washrooms are available and parking is plentiful. Unfortunately the Cafe was closed, it would have been nice to be able to buy a coffee or hot chocolate.

Below the path and stairs lies Third Beach. In all honesty, the terrain changes very little from Second Beach to Third Beach. But for our purposes, we did discover this stretch while visiting E. Pauline Johnson's memorial while out on a walk-about.

You make do in life with what you have. Our favorite beaches have water temperatures way in excess of 75 degrees F. and are not peppered with logs and are replete with white sand.

Appreciate the differences and celebrate them!

Described by Vancouver’s Best Places as “an impressive beach,” Third Beach is located along the western shore of Stanley Park. Because it is part of the Seawall system, the beach is accessible via walking or vehicle. If you choose to drive, limited parking is available at the Third Beach (pay) parking lot. Once here, bask in the sun, swim in the ocean, or just take a break from the hurly burly of contemporary living.

As I was visiting during Fall, the beach was mostly empty save for a couple of treasure hunters. I have to agree with an earlier review: I found Third Beach to be “Nothing outstanding.” It’s a beach – a small one. I imagine it can get quite crowded on hot summer days and that’s not appealing for anybody. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just spoiled after having patronized the beaches of Tofino, Hawaii and Haida Gwaii.

On the plus side, Third Beach is very close to the Stanley Park Teahouse; thus, one can have a delightful meal here after a sojourn at this ho-hum beach.

This beach, in Stanley Park, is on the western shore, and provides views of outer English Bay, the North Shore, and the Gulf Islands. The sand is great for walking, tanning, or swimming, although the flags barring swimming were up when I was there.
Accessible by both the seawall or by car (a small parking lot), this a great place to take a break from your seawall trek, get a drink from the concession stand, and (If necessary) utilize the clean restrooms.

We were in Vancouver on an overcast day.
We hired bikes to cycle round Stanley park and cycled by it. It was not surprised empty bar a few people walking. It is similar to the other beaches on the west coast of the city, looked sandy and safe.
I like the idea of the tree trunks being sed as seating for visitors.

Very small beach on the seawall facing the ocean. It offers commanding views to the mountain and out to sea. It does seem to have lots of seaweed.
