Nanaimo Museum: Discover Nanaimo’s fascinating history in our new museum located in the VI Conference Centre. The main gallery offers a sense of what life was like for Nanaimo's earliest settlers and the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Our award winning replica coal mine is a special treat. The museum also manages the Bastion, an original Hudson's Bay Company post built in 1853. Don’t miss the gift shop!Museum Hours: 10am - 5pm Monday to SaturdaySummer Hours: Open Daily 10am - 5pm

Plan to spend maximum 30 minutes in this so called "museum". Not sure why they charged us money to visit it as there is not much to see there.

This little museum offers a lot - a great overview of Nanaimo's history - from mining, logging, to bathtub races. I particularly enjoyed the mining and Chinatown exhibits. It's laid out well so you view things in an orderly way without missing areas or backtracking....More

Being a huge history fan I was a little disappointed to see numerous interesting museum displays unmarked with dates. Dates really add to the context of history to how an item is placed in time so you can understand events in the past. But aside...More

WE visited the Museum for the first time this summer and were pleasantly surprised as to how well it was set up. The exhibits offered a good variety of the history of Nanaimo, including the Mining & logging industry. Well worth a visit.
