About
One of the oldest Estate Wineries in all of British Columbia, Blue Grouse is truly a magical place! Nestled on a 65 arce piece of unspoiled Cowichan Valley countryside, this winery and vineyard produces some of the most awarded wines on the entire island! From Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Ortega, Bacchus and the very rare Black Muscat, Blue Grouse produces new classic wines from old island vines.

- sidneymomNorth Saanich, Canada242 contributionsWorth a visit. Nice winery.Nice location. Very helpful and attentive staff . We had a five wine taster flight and our server explained in detail each wine. We enjoyed them all although the majority were not good value in our humble opinion. We did enjoy the Quill white and red blend. Sample servings were adequate and there was lots of time to enjoy the wine. Limited menu but typical for a winery.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 June 2023

- ccriderYVRVancouver, Canada3,589 contributionsBeautiful property with interesting wines but should change how they do the tastingIt was a hot day and we wanted to take a nice relaxed wine tasting at Blue Grouse. It's a fairly expansive property and their patio is well known for the view. We didn't have a reservation, so we had to wait a bit for a table. They sat us on the picnic table outside which was nice. The only thing I didn't like is that they pre pour all of the wines before seating you and explain the wines from left to right in order. It's hard to remember everything that is said about the wine and on a hot day, they get warm and I think that takes away from the tasting, especially for the whites. It sounds like it is something that got started during Covid. If so, it should be removed.Visited August 2023Written 15 August 2023

We stumbled on this magical place. The hosts were so thoughtful, the fall foliage made the scenery even more beautiful, and the wine was excellent.

Totally unimpressed. Would have been nice to have been given more of a choice of wines, not just their driest wines. I know that's the 'thing' now, but honestly, not everyone is a fan of dry wines. They could maybe think of asking people if they wanted to sample the dry wines or a mixture. And honestly, offering water for the table with paper cups is a little on the tacky side. The views here are outstanding but it felt too commercial, and yes I know they're there to make money, but the whole experience was disappointing.

Blue Grouse is near Cowichan Bay, Vancouver Island, BC and is situated amongst the mountains. Sitting on their patio having a flight of wine and taking in the astounding views that surround you is simply a place you cannot miss. Of all the wineries we went to during our stay, this was by far the most beautiful and our favorite

A very pleasant break in the day with good wine and a light snack. You can bring your own food and try some fine wines.

Blue Grouse is a BEAUTIFUL winery sitting on glorious grounds. We liken it to our favorites in Napa. We did the sparkling tasting on the upstairs terrace, so we enjoyed the magnificent view. We enjoyed The Paula (sparkling) along with their Pinot Noir.

We were there on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, sat outside. The wine was excellent and the service was also really good, from the person who greeted us at the door to the woman who took our order. I'll definitely return!

Hello! We do have accommodation available at the winery for up to four guests. We do not have a full restaurant, but we do offer charcuterie and cheese platters for you to enjoy in the tasting room. There are some lovely restaurants nearby that I would be happy to share with you. Please check our website at and you will see our accommodation photos. We look forward to hearing from you!
