Gold panning with grandaughter

A pleasant setting with lots of artifacts to investigate. Danicà found her gold and had fun panning it out.

The Lady who owns this claim is very knowledgable. This is a long standing family business. She was very friendly and told us the story of gold panning on her claim. Easy access via a good dirt road.

Claim 33 is found about 10 km from Dawson. You get there on a gravel road, but it is a good road. For about $15 (cheaper if you have a bigger group), you get a gold pan that contains some gravel and some gold. The ladies that work there are sooooo good. They are very friendly. They give you a... On our way out of town toward Claim #6 (free gold panning claim), we stopped here to buy our gold pan. The ladies that run the store are awesome. We had a great chat with them. We did not partake in the gold panning demonstration, but saw lots of people there as we were passing.

Good and interesting activities, good to experience with small kids. Kids are really excited about panning gold. Credit cards were not accepted altough they had a sign about accepting credit cards. Anyway, nice to see!

I visited with a group of Francophone seniors. We were well received, taught to gold pan and assisted with finding the gold

Such fun! The friendly owner, Ginny teaches you the art/technique of gold panning using her water filled troughs outside and your "lucky" pan from her shop. She is a VERY patient teacher! When you are done washing and swirling your dirt away, you are left with "color" in your pan. She then shows you how to collect you gold flecks... More
