We were on our way to Salmon Arm from the Seattle area and chose the Fraser River route because it was designated as a scenic highway on the map. I believe it added perhaps as much as 1 1/2 hours to our trip and, frankly, with all of the other amazing sights, it really fell short. Next time we will... More

Fraser River was named for explorer/surveyor Simon Fraser. Although our tour bus rode for miles along this significant body of water, we stopped only at Hell’s Gate, in Hope, BC. We enjoyed phenomenal views of the river at Hell’s Gate, after descending in an expensive gondola ride. Hell’s Gate got its name from Simon Fraser. Upon seeing the narrow gorge... More

Scary and breathtaking! You have to drive it to believe it! Windy roads along the cliff with no guard rails, all dirt roads (logging routes) with wildlife around every corner and a beautiful view of the Fraser River along the way.

There are several areas along the south side of the Fraser River that offer lovely walking trails and much sought after fishing spots. From Hope through Chilliwack down to Island 22 one can enjoy long walks and fantastic fishing opportunities. Further west, the Matsqui Trail runs parallel along the Fraser for a few km, offering great views of the Golden... More
