We came here for a school field trip. My 12yo and 10yo sons cannot wait to come back and actually tour all the displays. It is a small museum, but it appears to be super-well kept up. The school programs were very well done and we were quite impressed. We will definitely be back.

The museum part was okay, and there was some kind of goofy exhibition about immigrants that did not make sense. But if you are going to call yourself an art gallery, there should be some art on display, and there was none. That was very disappointing.

Thank your for visiting and posting about your visit with us this month. I would like to take the time to explain the lack of art during your recent visit. We are both a museum and an art gallery and it can be hard to strike a balance between the two everyday. We plan our exhibits up to 5 years... More

Having a laid back day and thought I'd check out the museum. Admission was by donation ($5/person suggested). There's a nice koi pond at the entrance. At first I was really excited, the displays and artifacts seemed like they would be interesting and for the most part they were. What torpedoed my experience was that none of the audio displays... I am very sorry that you had a disappointing experience. It sounds like you were here just before the completion of the installation of our new Canada Day 1 exhibition. Sometimes we are limited by the constraints of our building, and the technical crew may have needed to turn off the audio visual devices in Remarkable Red Deer in order... More

The muesem use to be free entry and now they want $12 a person to visit. I am disappointed with the charge, but the museum still has a good collection of early settler tools and art.

Although it's small, the displays were well done, well marked, and well interpreted. Loved the display about WW1 and Red Deer. Staff was friendly, and although there is no gift shop, they do have 3 or 4 books for sale in a rack near the door, if they have them in stock. Provincial Archives are in same building. I was... Nice displays and there is quite a bit of information about the history of Red Deer. Would be nice to be able to turn off or turn down all the different recorded conversations that are running while looking at the different displays. There is one section that has an argument between characters that is particularly annoying. Other than that the... More

The changes the museum went through in the last year were a huge improvement. Their renewed history of Red Deer is very well done, and I enjoyed the travelling exhibit.

I really enjoy my time here and I go several times a year. The one thing I really like is they are constantly having new rotational exhibits that would be not only of interest to a Red Deer resident but a visitor as well.
