My granddaughter and I visit quite often. The duck look-out is a favorite spot...we see lots of unusual ducks there. She also loves the trail with the story book pages on it and runs ahead to see what the next page has to say. One time on one of those trails we were just 50 feet away from a bull... More

We visited the Kerry Wood Nature Centre with family while on a visit to Red Deer from our BC home. The Centre is associated with the Gaetz Lakes Bird Sanctuary, Alberta's oldest federal migratory bird sanctuary. The Centre itself is very nice, with a fine gift shop. However, the highlight is the trail system. The 5 km loop walk around... More

Saw some beautiful sites on our nature walk here. The centre itself is pretty neat as well. Loads of creatures on the paths! Salamanders, squirrels, spiders, birds etc. Worth checking out!

We like to photograph water fowl. These were very nice hiking trails around the lakes or ponds. Flat gravel trails with benches .

Kerry Wood Nature Center is a great getaway with out having to get away. It is connected to several of the best trails in Red Deer. It backs on to two oxbow lakes with a variety of wild life. It's new addition of a musical play ground along side a more than your average playground makes a great place for... More

We really enjoyed this place. After starting with a visit to the Interpretive Centre and it's nice little art gallery, we did the longer trail (4 km's return), but we could have chosen a shorter 1 km loop to the bird viewing blind on the lake. There's also a fun Harmony garden for kids to whack on things to make... More

Awesome 4 km walk through forest trees path , walk to observation look out and watch the ducks. Saw deer and a beaver on our walk. Very picturesque, quite and relaxing. A must do for with love ones.

Kerry wood nature centre is absolutely lovely and the staff there are friendly and welcoming- the pathways are easy to navigate and offer restful nature interaction and exploration- the path with the higher walls and windows for viewing nature will be a fun discovery for young and old alike- and the harmony gardens are fun for all ages too...

I go there mostly to photograph the great variety of bird that make it their home. The trails are not very diffacult and there are plenty of spots to stop and enjoy nature.

Paved trails and some natural ones. Scenic ponds, bridges to cross and and picnic areas make this a nice place to spend an afternoon. Get a little exercise, have a picnic lunch. Comes with playgrounds for the kiddies too.
