    Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful place to go and is great for people that want to hike but not over exert themselves. There’s a beautiful spot where you can see where people make inukshuks along the River bank. My husband, son and our cousin made one in honor of our grandmother, grandfather and our 2 uncles, as well as my grandfather. They all loved these falls.

Do They Turn It Off At Night?!
As part of our Jasper to Banff shuttle, the bus stopped at Athabasca Falls. They are wonderful. Not just one falls. But a whole series cascading through a winding canyon from the lake. And the water just keeps coming. There are a number of observation points to see the different complexion of the falls. They are really neat.

Wow, add to your Jasper/Icefields parkway list.
Now I know I visited at a quieter time than the really busy seasons, but miss this at your peril. It is absolutely stunningly beautiful. The best falls I saw in my Canadian tour. There are so many viewpoints and even though it was not the busy silly season, there were still some people hogging the best viewpoints, but a bit of patience and Jedi mind tricks and you get your chance. The trails are easy to follow, yes some steps, but just brilliant. A MUST do.

    Stunning views
Breathtaking views and the noise of the waterfall was amazing . The sad thing is reading about a couple of young men who made the wrong call and lost their lives there . I also witnessed a middle age couple climbing over the barrier to get on the rocks, absolute idiots ! How they didn’t loose their footing i will never know. Stay safe if you visit , don’t climb over barriers for a photo op , not worth the risks !

    Very enjoyable visit
We definitely enjoyed the visit. Observing the power and roar of the fall was impressive and fun. It's not an overly big fall, but it was one of the better stops along the highway from Lake Louise to Jasper. The walk around the loop was relatively easy and the scenery was very nice. Definitely a must do!

    Strength of Nature
Nice stopping spot for watching the powerful Athabasca river waters falling, amazing Nature! Lots of people stop there, park and walk around, it's on hwy 93A, and of course not far fomrom Sunwapta Falls, a bigger one and worthy to visit too if you're in the area. There's parking, washrooms, handicap accessibility, wild animals could be around to watch too. Many tourists visit this beautiful site south from Jasper town.

    Wonderful Falls, a Little Crowded!
Wonderful falls with easy access and close to the highway. This is the only negative as since it is close to the highway there are throngs of people viewing the falls. The falls are beautiful and a feast for the eyes, we definitely recommend stopping here just be aware you will not be the only one with the same idea!

    This was an exhilarating waterfall.
I really enjoyed to watch this waterfall with scenic snowy mountains in the background. This waterfall was not too far away from the border with Banff National Park. It was a challenge to get parking as the parking lot filled up very quickly. There were many paths for individuals to walk.

    Amazing!
What a great place. LOTS to see, many viewing platforms and even can go down to the beach/river and see other areas with the canyon etc. Spent lots of time here exploring and worth a stop.

    Unusually informative
We stopped by these falls as an afterthought, and so glad we did. It was a beautiful short drive on hwy 93A, after visiting Edith Cavell glacier. If you go to Athabasca Falls, be sure to walk all the walkways and take a look at the descriptive signs. There's quite a bit more to it than just the main falls, though they were spectacular. We spent about 45 minutes here and really enjoyed it. Note that the walks involve stairs, so not accessible to all. Plenty of parking.

Not a bad walk to see these Falls. Fantastically powerful and set with a stunning backdrop of mountains. Stunning to see the falls where the Glacier runs off from and beautiful blue waters. Nice little place to have a break from driving for some lovely views.
If you are able to explore and follow the step trails (can be steep, be careful) and follow the falls to the massive lake it flows into. The entire area is beautiful.

Includes lots of stairs so most of it in not accessible for wheelchairs.

These falls, just 30kms south of Jasper, were so picturesque! I absolutely loved them. There was a large volume of water when we were there in September. Clear, paved paths, with some steps, led to viewing areas at the top, middle and base of the falls. It was interesting to view the falls from these different angles, especially the canyon, potholes and downstream flow. It's about a 1 km out-and-back trail (15mins), but allow more time for admiring the scenery and taking photos! Athabasca Falls may not be famous for height or width, but the volume of water and background of forests and mountains create a stunning setting for these gorgeous falls. There were toilet facilities at the car park.

I hesitated giving these falls five stars because of the crowd situation. However, these falls are a must see on a trip to the Icefields Parkway. There are paved paths around the falls. Do not miss the section of the trail that takes you through a former channel of the falls down to the river.

Located in Jasper National Park just south of the town of Jasper, Athabasca Falls is a popular stop for those taking the scenic drive along the famed Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff National Parks. My wife and I visited here during mid-October 2023.

You’ll realize how popular the falls are as soon as you drive into the parking lot and see how large the lot is, with rest rooms and space to accommodate buses. The trail to the falls is short, flat and paved. It wasn’t very crowded when we visited, but we noticed that most visitors were practically racing to get to the viewing platform. I’d recommend resisting the temptation to rush and take in the sights, as there are some nice views of the Athabasca River as it flows toward the falls.

The falls themselves are impressive for the strength of the water flow – they really do roar. The main viewing area in front of the falls is fairly small, so you may need some patience in order to get the photo you want.

Visiting Athabasca Falls may not be a life-changing experience, but is pleasant and easy way to stretch your legs and take in some of the unique beauty the Canadian Rockies have to offer.

On the icefields parkway, just a short walk from the parking lot to the falls. There are interpretive signs to add information. Very good view of the falls, and opposite the falls a trail that leads to a lake. Easy to see (parking aside) - and worth seeing.
