Very nice views of jasper area a short drive from downtown Jasper. It is on the way to the Fairmont if you are going to see it. You can just take the stairs up to see some nice views. Great place to watch sunset or sunrise

This trail is well marked. Start up the steps from the car park . It’s a fair climb up, but the views are absolutely worth it. This is a excellent hike , strenuous in places, but most folk could manage it . It’s a circular walk

We did the observation point. Met rangers in Jasper who gave us the recommendation. Got turned around and accidentally went on the hiking trail. When you are at trailhead, don’t walk on path straight ahead, walk to the right where you will see a set of stairs. It is an uphill climb so not for little ones or people with bad knees. Amazing views of Jasper even on a smoky day. Only one other family was climbing to point at the same time with us, felt like we had it to ourselves.

Free parking available at the start/finish of the walk. As advised walked clockwise so we had a steady climb before reaching the vantage point overlooking Jasper and the Athabasca River.
You do go through wooded areas and some rough terrain. I would advise walking boots or shoes and I was glad I put insect repellent on.
The walk was about 4km and we did it early evening. Very enjoyable and spectacular views.

This was a hyped up hike so decided to go for it. The views at the start are amazing. You get lovely views of the river and Jasper Town. Take all your photos at the start as after that, you are in forest and meadow areas without the panoramic views. But it was a short fun hike and if you’re looking for great views local to the town, this is one to go for

This was quite a climb after hiking Valley of the 5 Lakes, but we managed the climb. Got some close up pictures of mountain sheep. They look a lot bigger close up. I didn't want to get too close to them!

On the day we arrived in Jasper it was raining and we wanted to complete a relatively easy hike for our first day and one that would be easily accessible to our two small kids (5 & 3). Even though there was a steady rain the hike up the stairs to the top was quick and easy for us. In some of the steeper spots it was a little slippery but still manageable. The next day was much nicer and we came back to the trails and completed the circle from trail 1 to the top and than back down the stairs. The trail is really nice. Its a slow incline to the top and very manageable not only with out kids but a small foldable wagon as well. There was only 1 spot along the 1 trail in which the wagon was a bit tougher to get through but with 2 adults we just picked it up and continued on our way. Once at the top any sort of wagon or stroller is not compatible with the hike down to the stairs and needed to be folded carried.
Our boys enjoyed this hike there was spots along the way they got to explore. There are a couple of spots to go off path for a beautiful view. There are 2 chairs located at the top for you to take a load off and just enjoy everything around you. While heading down it was really cool to start our decent and run into a big horned sheep. I would recommend this trail for anyone who loves to hike with their littles.

Though you definitely need ice cleats! We did the long route (4KM around) and on the way down toward the stairs, the trail became even a bit too icy for those wearing ice cleats, so we went back out the way we came. Though the views and experience were fabulous.

A nice trail to do for eventually overlooking the Athabasca River and seeing over the town of Jasper. Lots of uphill hiking in the beginning.
