This was akin to something out of the movies. We were made to feel like northern ice mountaineers out on expedition. Our wonderful guide took us on a three hour trek up the Athabasca Glacier- something you can only do with an experienced guide and company. They outfitted us with crampons, wind breakers, snow pants, gloves, and even boots! This... More

My husband, 12 year old son and myself did the 3 hour walk and it was an amazing experience. Even though it was cold, rainy and foggy at times it was an incredible 3 hours. They supplied wet weather gear and spikes to slip on our boots. Bit of a strenuous walk at times as you're going uphill but the... More

You take a bus from the columbia icefiled centre, a 3 minute dirve. Then you board a glacier buggy ( big bus with giant wheels to go on the ice). You then learn about icefields and glaciers and how fast the glacier is disappearing due to climate change. It is impressive to walk on the glacier. you get 15 miutes... More

Hi Normu, I'm glad you enjoyed your BUS tour on the Athabasca Glacier. Next time you come, you may like to experience the Ice WALK on the same glacier. It's a very different experience. Cheers, the Iceman. More

I absolutely loved this ice glacier walk! Jen our guide was incredible and very knowledgeable! You can clearly see that she loves what she does and is one hell of a lady. Her dog snowpatch accompanied us on the walk and Loved the snow! Doing this walk was a highlight of my Canadian experience! P.s. Dont forget a hip flask... More

The ice walk allows you to walk on the glacier for several hours. It is a tough uphill walk requiring a bit of stamina. The experience is unique and amazing and well worth the effort. Even in August we were wearing multiple layers including hats, gloves and waterproof jackets and pants. Crampons were provided and the guides were excellent. The... More

We did the 5/6hr Icewalk Deluxe tour. Everyone was given crampons, and waterproof pants, jackets and gloves were offered. I have been out on Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska many years ago, but it was not near as an extensive tour as this was. We really enjoyed the opportunity to spend so much time out on a glacier and enjoyed the... More

Hi Noodlie066, Thanks for your review. I am so sorry that our guide made you feel rushed. I have little doubt that the fact it was the last trip of the season played a role in her haste, although this certainly doesn't excuse the problem. We strive to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience. If you like, connect with... More

What a fantastic experience! We took our Australian friend on the 5-6 hour walk and we loved it just as much as he did. Sure, you can walk from the parking lot up to the roped-off barrier and think that you've 'seen' the Athabasca glacier. Not so. The further you walk (guided excursions only) the better (and cleaner) the glacier... More

These folks were great! We went on September 11, it had snowed overnight and it was COLD. I had prepared for cold (4 layers) but still took them up on there jacket and wind pants (and crampons) - ended up being a very good idea! It was amazing being the first people to step on the beautiful, clean (fresh snow)... More

We went on the 3 hour walk and were very pleased we did. Hat, gloves, jacket and spikes to walk on the glacier can all be provided at the start of your walk. As mentioned elsewhere the guide is very knowledgeable and keen and the walk isn't too difficult. Some minor footwork needed at times to cross over cracks in... More

Really appreciated the afternoon tour of the Athebaska Glacier. Our guide was the company owner who shared his decades of knowledge of this glacier, part of the large Columbia Icefield. The base of the glacier has retreated so far that the first part of the walk was on a moonscape like terrain. Then we put on the supplied crampons and... More
