This dreary collection of concrete lacking retail and dining options is not worth the time to visit. Stephens Avenue is Calgary is much better.

The interruption of construction is the result of a growing community, so while many have complained about the on going construction around the square - we had no issues with it.

We arrived at the square at lunch time and enjoyed watching the Zumba in the square, a free lunchtime event where anyone could join in.

As we walked through the square we enjoyed a little ping pong in the wind, followed by some fun on the Happy wall.

All in all a fun community space.

It seemed like at least half of the Square is under construction. Still lots of open space, though. Can't wait to see what they are doing!

The square is surrounded by construction of the new LRT line, main library and the city hall fountain so right now it is not a place to visit. Three Bananas cafe is still open and the Tixs on the Square store. I will be glad when everything is done and the square can go back to being the vibrant place it once was. But I think that is still a year away.

You are warned on the Edmonton website but nothing really prepares you for how bad it is. Website shows you how it must be normally not as it is. Trouble is it’s not just the Square but the surrounding streets as well. Only positive side was the parking was only C$5 and could have stayed all day, if only. Sorry Edmonton won’t be back any time soon.

There's always something going on in the Square, and if you have time to visit you should plan a couple of hours! If you're just having lunch downtown, this is a great place to swing by.

Perhaps if you are walking around and want a place to sit and rest for a while, then this is the place to be. But don't go out of your way to visit.

We went there for a few events and it was quite enjoyable in the summer.
In the winter, it gets cold and sort of windy... unless they have outdoor events which could be fun too! (a christmas market would be the pretty fun!)

Check out the events calendar for that area in the summer; fun times!

There was construction going on all around the square when we visited - loud construction - so we didn't stay for long. We did enjoy the little craft shop they had with work by local artisans, and we played for a bit with the hands-on art installation that let's you move tiles to create your own colorful picture. There are tables to sit outside and enjoy the weather when it's nice, but again, with all the noise, we passed those by. Hopefully, Edmonton is just sprucing things up for the future.

Besides the statue of Sir Winston Churchill there are other memorials, statues and clocks to see in and around the square. There is a nice view of City Hall, the Art Gallery and Services Canada.
