Whyte Avenue (also known as 82 Avenue) is an arterial road in south-central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It became the main street of the City of Strathcona as it formed, and now runs through Old Strathcona. It was named in 1891 after Sir William Whyte, who was superintendent of the CPR's western division from 1886 to 1897 and was knighted by King George V in 1911. Old Strathcona is Edmonton's main arts and entertainment district, and is also a shopping hub for local residents and students at the nearby University of Alberta. Whyte Avenue, now a heritage area, is at the heart of this district, housing many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

One of my favourite streets to window shop and people watch. Occasionally things get a bit rowdy, but the fun is generally good-natured.

Cool place to hang out and enjoy some food and drinks. I've been lucky enough to be here when the oilers make playoffs. Good restaurants

So many different shops to poke your head into and lots of different places to eat. It's a great street to spend a day or two walking, site seeing, shopping, eating and more.

Best spent on a day with no rain. In summer the farmers market has something For everyone, with excellent Ukrainian food. White ave is a mixture of the old and the new, with older buildings mixed in with the push to modern. Many of the shops have been there for years

All kinds of shops, restaurants and bars to visit. I like to walk my dog down the streets while my wife browses through the shops.

Shopping sites abound, no matter what your taste or budget ! There are fascinating bits of history to absorb and when you decide to eat, the only challenge will be picking just one of so many great venues !
