The play that was playing was almost at the end of its run. It was 85 minutes long with no intermission. I was anxious to visit as this was one of my first projects I worked with after joining my current employer. What an awesome venue, not a bad seat in the house. The actors were right there. It is... We hadn't been to the Varscona in a while so obviously they have renovated since our last visit but the venue is fantastic now and every seat is a good seat. Recommende as long as you can find a good play to watch.

Loved the new building, much more space and light in the lobby. The seats in the theatre, however, are stacked too closely. Our friend who is 6 feet tall was cramped with his knees right up against the seat in front of him. The bathrooms are beautiful.

If you love live theatre this is a little gem. Located in the heart of the historic Old Strathcona district it hosts plays and improv. comedy all year long. Truly some of the best professional entertainment you will find.

I would say this place has good plays at a decent price. Get out and support starving artists! Not top tier like the Citadel but also not amateurs.

Located in Old Strathcona this is a cozy, little theatre. An old building, right now is working on raising funds to renovate & improve it. This is a very busy venue, owned by The City of Edmonton and run by several representatives of different theatre companies. We went to see the play: "Queen Lear", featuring Allison Wells, and it was... More

We have been to the Varscona Theatre many times and have been charmed by its small, intimate feel. You can get very involved with the plays and the stage is quite visible no matter where you sit. The theatre repertoire is quite eclectic so you are likely to find something you like during the course of the year. During the... More

We were very lucky to find this little theatre while walking in the historic Old Strathcona area of Edmonton. We were even more lucky that it was two for one Tuesday! The show was "Flight of the Viscount" a lively comedy written by David Belke and performed by a talented and enthusiastic cast. Well done! It was a great nights... More

Home of risky and wonderful, locally-produced theatre. A super-intimate space with very few bad seats.
