It’s a wonderful place to visit, walk across then stroll along Bow River to enjoy the scenery. It’s an easy walk with lots of photo spots!

A soviet or Chinese red modern contemporary design, that doesnt go with classic heritage are of Princes island park,or Kensington . Gets dirty and reg vandalized due to poor design materials. Its design is better suited for downtownTokyo not Western Historic Calgary, of course it draws attention to take a picture of like a crashed jumbo jet in the woods but its out of place..

We went while it was under construction. It is a cute little bridge. You can get a nice view of the Calgary skyline from the other side of the bridge when coming from downtown. Beautiful nice day made for a nice stroll and then enjoy the Prince's Island Park

This red, crisscrossing tube looks like one of those finger trap puzzles lol. It crosses the Bow River on one end of Prince’s Island park and joins Downtown with the Sunnyside area on the other side. It’s one of the few bridges in the city with dedicated bike lanes. It’s functional and useful - but it’s such an eyesore to me lol.

The steel bridge is impressive in that it was built to support its own weight - so there’s nothing securing it or holding it up etc. The red coloring is meant to represent the Canadian flag. It was under quite a bit of repair or something when I visited (Aug 2023) with tons of scaffolding and fencing running along the entire interior - so that made it even less appealing lol.

It’s an interesting bridge and concept but the setting is all wrong for this bridge style. It’s surrounded by beautiful nature and the river and Prince’s Island - all lush and green and then BAM you’re eyes are hit with this odd, retro, Cold War looking thing lol.

It was finished in 2012 and was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Apparently it was extremely expensive to build and that generated some controversy. I just feel like this bridge does not hold up to its $25 million price tag at all lol.

I took a walk on this bridge which goes from one side of the river to the other side. It was free to go on this bridge, and this bridge was undergoing some construction. It was somewhat crowded to cross this bridge.

A pleasant walk across the Bow River. There was a bit of construction making it tight in areas, but it was still accessible.

Very interesting architecturally and engineering wise, the detail of the bridges design is brilliant and that it connects various parts of the Calgary communities is even better. It’s pretty iconic and something worth visiting when in Calgary.

It is in the middle of being fixed up and I just know it is going to look so great when it is done. And if you walk across the bridge the walking paths are great.

Great landmark. Gives helpful views of the city and river parks. There is an app that one can use for info but not necessary
