My wife found this one on a google search and although there was areas of typical springtime mud on trail at times it was a challenging one especially near the start. As you got higher you could see views of the area that were amazing and at the top was spectacular looking west and just as impressive finding a spot... More

This is a good hike for the amateur hiker. Take your time and enjoy the views. The vertical climb is gradual, but it will get your heart pumping. The terrain is rocky and uneven in some areas. Overall it is well worth it.

As a section of Tunnel Mountain Drive was closed, we started our hike at Tunnel Mountain Trail Head by St. Julien Road. The trail had some snow and ice but it wasn't too hard with a pair of snow boots. It is a relatively easy hike for all fitness level, including kids. I was 30 weeks pregnant so it took... More

The trail can start off of St. Julien Road or in the summertime you can park on Tunnel Mountain Drive (closed during winter). This is a hike that kids, adults, elderly and plus size people can do. All that changes is how long it will take to get to the top. There are plenty of places to stop and take... More

Great little trail , a fair elevation gain , but easy to find , requires no car and starts in downtown Banff. The views however are fantastic. Top tip , head into one of the coffee shops downtown, grab a coffee and snack and head up tunnel for breakfast.

I trekked up here with my cousin and my 5 year old, after making it to the top it was just beautiful and serene.

If you are going on this trail in the winter, as we did, make sure to use boot cleats or boots with VERY good grip as it is icy in places. However, when you get to the top you'll appreciate every extra heartbeat you took to get up here.

Whether you want a great view of banff and bow river or you want to do a daily exercise routine this is a great mountain. Less the an hour to the top. Always lots of squirrel in summer.

This is a great and not too strenuous walk to get some Rocky mountain feeling. We were there mid-week and in winter when the trail was snow-covered, so it wasn't too busy. But for sure, during the main holidays you will not be alone up there. Yet still, because it has so many fantastic views over Banff and into the... More
