This is one of many recommended stops along the Icefields Parkway. This is just a quick hike down to the canyon and well worth the stop. The force of the water rushing through the canyon is simply awesome. We took time to have a picnic along the banks of the river and marvel at the depths of this canyon.

This should be on your stop off list. The walk up is challenging but worth it. Thank goodness someone told us this as we were heading back to the car.

Mistaya Canyon should be on your stop off list on the Icefield Parkway, the short walk from the car park provides you with a stunning view of the powerful water cutting it's way through the landscape at great speed, well worth a visit.

Great stop and amazing views. 300 meters (around .2 of a mile) each way on a very rocky and steep path. There’s other areas to go off onto, but not safe in those areas for young children. Drop off areas, steep areas and lots of roots. Go at your own risk.. I did and was fine, but no room for slipping and falling. The foot bridge over is very nice. Just beautiful views. The path gets your heart beating going up & knees hurting going down… but worth it!!

Recently attended here for a hike. There is a great big parking lot, then a hike downhill to the canyon. This hike is not easy as its rough.. Arriving at the canyon is beautiful. Then you have to walk uphill again.

Highly recommended!

We stopped here while driving the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper. The river going through the canyon was very scenic. There is ample parking off the highway and the canyon is a short walk from the parking lot. Definitely worth stopping for.

The canyon is just off Hwy93. There is a big parking lot and it’s about a ten minute hike to the canyon. There were some places where it was steep so don’t leave your hiking sticks in the car like I did! The water and the rocks were beautiful, and the hike short so make time for it on your drive down the Icefield Parkway.
