Stayed at Chateau Lake Louise for a week, took one day and drove 100 K toward Jasper and loved the scenary. This has got to be one of the best drives in the world. We saw a Lynx crossing the road and there were plenty of stops for pictures. Very light traffic in February. Roads were a bit icy so... More

Sadly over the years, the glaciers have receded due to global warming. The ice fields were kilometres in length and width. It was like a mass of ancient ice which could be seen for a great distance from the highway.

Always remember my parents talking about the "Icefields parkway" decades ago. Well I can see why. Had a wedding in Lethbridge Alberta and this was our opportunity to get here and take a Canadian Rockies/ Montana vacation. I don't want to get too long because there are just so many stop offs and things to see. A day up and... More

Plan for more time than just the travel time to drive from Jasper to Banff, as you will want to stop every couple of kilometers to have a look at some impressive view. Easily on the highlights of the entire country, and easy to see why four national parks are in the vicinity.

This is one of the most scenic places I have been in Alberta, having said that it is by far the most expensive place I have ever been to gas up. They are so expensive they don't even advertise the price at the pump. My advise, bring jerry cans. I would definitely love to travel here at different times of... More

We started in Banff, didn't stop in Lake Louise as we had already seen it (but don't miss it), stopped at Herbert Lake, Hector Lake, Bow Lake with a view of Crowfoot Glacier, Peyto Lake, The Weeping Wall, Bridalveil Falls and Columbia Icefield Discovery Center. We booked a walk on the Columbia Ice Field with the company Ice Walk. After... More

What an experience!!! Being taken up to the Glacier in a C$1.2million Snow vehicle at a pace of about 5kph, then being let loose on the glacier!! Astonished at the surroundings, the mere magnitude of it all, the beauty of the Rockies and lots more!! This is an absolute MUST SEE/DO for all visitors to the Rockies!

Drove their just now while staying at the Lake Louise Inn. Google maps said 30 mins to Peyote Lake. In the summer I have no doubt the drive is astounding...in the winter however, as a driver, it's a pretty dangerous drive due to the icy roads, downhill turns, and poor road visibility It is extremely scenic though. Just try to... More

This is the one of the best scenic drive in Banff, I was tempted to stop at every 10 minutes.... My original plan was to drive till Jasper. However had to cut short at Peyto Lake due to bad weather. When I started from Lake Louise itself the road condition on icefield pkwy was poor, it was snowing and I... More

I've driven this many times and the scenery is outstanding. You are bordered by some of the Canadian Rockies highest peaks and adjacent glaciers. Despite Parks Canada, it still is not very developed and hopefully it stays that way. Do yourself a favour and travel up it to Jasper. You'll love it.
