Great place to visit in Haiti close to cape Haitian, to get tithe top you can either walk , if you are an athlete you can run your way up or ride a motorcycle or a horse (horses are not treated right ) so try the motorcycle of you are not in shape. The view is breath taking.

A most excellent adventure with Guide Sadrac Guerier 011 509 37187966 Bus to Cap Hotel Master. The walk and tour of the Citadel is one of my life adventures that I will never forget. The Guide will give you a History lesson.. The tragedy of Slavery and Haitis struggle for freedom.

Drive to Milot or take a taxi. You can pay U.S. cash and for the entrance at the tourism booth (they also speak English at the tourism booth). I think I paid around $60USD for 4 people including the tour guide. Get a horse ( approx $15 US, moto, or drive up to the Citadel. It is very steep, unless... More

This was such a pleasant surprise. Totally unexpected and totally blown away! Even the pictures I had seen did not seem to do it justice as for being there in person. It was a jewel of a find in the Caribbean. A Must See!

I've read a lot about Sans Souci Palace and I'm glad I went! Hired a local guide. It was helpful but not indispensable. The old man ended up asking five times more than he initially asked for. I gave him the initial price we initially agreed on. Beatiful part of Haitien's history!

We had such a wonderful visit at the citadel and sans Soucis yesterday. A lot of the tourists I tour with always want to challenge themselves of the hiking to the citadel, and when you do that, it gives you a taste of how hard the slaves worked to build this amazing castle, on no foundation but on the rock... Hiking to the top of the Citadel takes stamina, although mules are available. The Citadel, built to fend off a possible attack by Napoleon, is an enormous fortress built on the hilltops. A new parking area at the base, with restroom and diagrams is helpful. Be aware that there are many safety hazards once you are in the Citadel: no... More

This is a must see before leaving Haiti. Getting to Sans Souci is relatively easy from Cap. I hired a taxi for $50 to get me there and back, and give that it can take an hour in Cap traffice, that was a bargain. The entry for both, withno guide and no horse, is a mere $5. I hired a guide... More

A tough location, but worth the effort. If you are not in good shape, plan on renting one of the numerous horse to ride up the access road--it is very steep. Do some research on the history before you go. There are folks there who will tell you a bit, but know as much as possible before you go. Bring... More
