The cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 m from Srinagar.Out of all Hindu deities, Lord Shiva is extremely popular not only amongst Indians but also amongst the people of other nationalities. To get closer to their revered God, who appears on this earth in the unique form of an Ice Lingam, millions of devotees trek through the daunting mountains to Shri Amarnathji Shrine in South Kashmir every year in the summer months to pay obeisance.como criar loja. Amarnathji is considered to be one of the major Hindu Dhams. The holy cave is the abode of Lord Shiva. The guardian of the absolute, Lord Shiva, the destroyer, is enshrined in the form of an ice-lingam in this cave. This lingam is formed naturally, which is believed to wax and wane with the moon.

On August 08, 2013, my wife and I had the darshan of Barfani Baba @ Amarnath Cave. The yearning to visit this Abode was since long and each year we would only read the reviews of the other visitors to the shrine. This year our turn also came.
The planning started from February when the Air India Ticket was booked, the information on the yatra was provided by http://www.shriamarnathjishrine.com/ the official website of the shrine board. The Medical check up from the Authorised Doctors of the Govt Medical colleges was only the issue which we felt could be better done. The Doctors of the Medical colleges are over burdened with huge patients and to burden them for a medical check up for yatra - may be could be avoided and more private Doctors also could have been included in the list. The helicopter booking was next. The above web site has to be frequented for getting the updates. only after the helicopter bookings we blocked the hotel rooms.
The trip was finalised after meticulous planning we could reach the Paradise on Earth (Kashmir) from Gods own Country (Kerala) The Air India Flight from Cochin International Airport was on Aug 07, 2013 and the connecting flight from Delhi International AIrport was also on time and we landed at Srinagar Airport without any hitch. (We still prefer flying AIr India). The drive to Sonamarg on a Tavera with our Driver Farooque from Srinagar Airport was very picturesque, the stay at JK Tourism Dept Tourist Bungalow @ Sonamarg was simply wonderful, though the rooms were constructed in 1941 and services were lacking but we had our focus only on the yatra.
On the day of Darshan AUg 08, 2013, we took our Cab till Baltal and boarded the Helicopter operated by Global vectra to Panjtarni. (Crew and the customer support team need to be patient and friendly) The hilly route from panjtarni to the cave was on Horse named Raja who his caretaker informs me has been transporting the pilgims to the cave for over 15 years now. Each of the pilgrims whether on foot or on horse greets the other pilgrims and other passers - Jai Bole. There each and every one becomes a part of Bolenath. Jai Bole
The presence of Army Jawans through out the route gives us the confidence and a salute to the Jawans who do do their duty day in and day out at such inhospitable terrains - Jai Jawan!!
The last leg has a climb of 450 steps to be climbed for the Darshan, the Organisers have done a splendid job in making clean arrangements which include Doctors, Oxygen joints, Bhandara, Horse, Pitoos etc
The journey was tedious but the moment you are in front of Barfani Baba the tiredness disappears and you experience Bliss.
There are so many Bhandaras around the base of the shrine you can have as much food as you need without any charges- sponsored by so many charitable organisations and individuals. Please do not waste.
It is one of the best pilgrimages which we had experienced and the memories of which would last a life time.

We were four members of the family went for Amarnath Yatra on 4th Aug 2015.i would like to tell people some important information about this yatra. Every year this yatra starts around July and goes on for 40 to 50 days till Rakshbhandhan.Devotees visit this cave temple to see the giant ice stalagmite that looks like shiva lingam. The yatra is for 40 days or more t but the ice lingam can been seen only for first 20 days.
There are two ways to visit this cave. one is via Baltal and the second is via Pahalgam. The Baltal route is shorter then the Pahalgam route.people go walking on both routes.
we four did not go walking as we were short of time secondly two of our member had health problems so we thought of going by helicopter. We four went to Srinagar by filght from Pune. Then we went by car to Pahalgam which is 96 km from Srinagar. We rested on that day and next day morning we went to Pahalgam helipad site. Our tickets were booked online and the flight was at 9.00 am.Here everything depends on weather and the flights were not going due to bad weather. Fortunately at 12.30 pm we got a flight to which took us to Pachtarni helicopter base. From here the distance to the cave is 6km. Since it was raining we went by pony to the base of cave. It took us around 2 1/2 hours to reach the cave base. while travelling to cave we faced with rain and chilled wind. we were wearing woollen clothes and raincoats. when we reached the base of cave we purchased the Prasad and walked the 200 appox. steps to the temple.one can feel the divine vibrations in the cave. u feel the presence of some divine power around u. U r blessed when u r in the cave.
the return journey took us 2 hours to reach the helicopter base. fourtunately the weather was ok and we got the return flight at 6.40 which is last flight. we were lucky to complete the yatra in a day.
I would like to give some important information to all the devotees who plan to visit Amarnath.
1.You need a complete Health certificate from the authorised doctors.
check the list at the web site.
2.if you have any health issue pls. don't walk take a helicopter.Book a helicopter ride early in the morning as the sky is clear and the journey is safe.
3. There the air becomes thin so u need to walk slow and take medication like
Dimox 10 and homeopathy tablets Coca which helps u in high altitude
4.It is better to go on pony as walking on this route is difficult. those who are not so confident about walking the steps in the end should do a dolly.
5. Carry proper woollen clothing, raincoat, drinking water, dry snacks, medicine, extra pair of cloths etc .If u are unable to travel back to the base camp then u may have to stay in tent overnight so u should be prepared. Threre are not so good toilet facilities there so avoid staying overnight. only BSNL phone works here. Camera and mobiles are not allowed, u have to keep it at the base.
6. This journey is adventures and fulfilling. so if u plan it properly it will given u immense satisfaction.
pls feel free to call me on 9890867922 if u plan ur visit I can surely guide u.

This is one place besides the most difficult Zozila Pass. You dont have to cross the pass though but right before the pass is Baltal from where the modern days yatra starts. Helicopters operate here and you should take immediate opportunity before this private service stops any time. Stay in Sonamarg and enjoy the view of the Thajewas Glacier a night before you take helicopters next morning to the shrine. You may be dropped about 6 kms before the Shrine at Panjtarni depending on the weather. You can take a horse ride or a palki ride from there if you dont wanna walk. But even after you reach the shrine you have to climb about 400 hard steps (palkis are there to help you but with nominal charge of around INR 500) to reach the actual Shrine which has the Amazing formation of a Shivling naturally made by ice. It was discovered by a muslim nomad long long back and till today some part of its offerings are going to his family. You must go there at the start of the yatra as you will get the Darshan of the proper Shivling as it depletes as summer takes over. The place is Snow covered even in summers and you should apply good sun screen to avoid sun burn as you are closest to sun here.
Conventional way is to take a walking route of around 35 kms starting from Chandanwari via Sheshnag, Panjtarini to Amarnath.

As you know every Hindu has a dream to go on kailash Mansarover , Amarnath Yatra and so many temples of lord Shiva like 12 jyotirlingas . But i get a chance to go Amarnath Yatra in 2014 on 20 July . I can say this is was almost ok but not superb due to some tensions in Baltal. I was in camps of Baltal when early in the morning a LPG gas cylinder blast and take 5 lives on the spot . This is a moment when every pilgrim feel disappointment from this incident . Anyway let's start about Amarnath Cave and its difficulties! we started our Yatra 5 am to come early in the evening.
After walking almost 1 km from camps we decide to do this yatra by "Pony ride" by paying 2000 per head . This was 5 hour ride from baltal camps to Amarnath cave and i will say this yatra is not so much easy as some peoples think . but yes you can do it . Let's come on Amarnath caves this is is moment when you have no words to describe this place you have only one word "Jai Bhole ki" . After reaching at Amarnath cave you will take bath Or wash your hands and face and purchase Parshad from Shopkeepers and also handover your cameras and phones etc. You will carry only money and some papers not a Matches and any other electronic Items. After taking Parshad join the lines and go through some security checks operated by Indian Army . And now this is the time to climb some stairs to do live Darshan of this Holy Cave . where you can do dashan of Mata Parvati , Lord ganesha and Bhole Shanker , And don't Forget to visit a couple of Pigeons . If you able to see this couple it means you darshan was superb . I'm not saying this line actually i heard from others . so try to look around i hope you will be able to see this couples!
Finally i want to say Must visit this holy cave and also encourage others to visit this most religious cave of Lord Shiva located in black forest of Pahalgam . And we have two routes to reach this holy cave one is Via Pahalagam and second is Via Baltal but baltal routes is short as compare to Pahalgam . So plan According your time and your physical fitness.
Thank You .

Journey started on 02 July 2013 and visited the shrine on 03 July 2013.
One has to be mentally and physically (to a certain extent depending on ones strong believes) prepared for a tough terrain (approx 14,000 ft high) and weather (sliding glaciers, snowfall etc).
At the same time fellow travelers in thousands moving in Que, either walking or on ponies, will give moral boost and the fresh air & the serene beauty of the surroundings will provide sufficient strength to move forward. Service provided by the Indian Army from the camps on the ground to the shrine at the top is exemplary and to be commented. They are a class apart from the normal Police Force (or part) we come across with and too kind to provide all sort of help to the travelers. They are also taking care of the security of the people and the region.
Hats off to them. Medical facility is also available without any hitch and free of charge.
Food and water are made available by the organizers /charitable organisations.
Helicopter ride is possible (for a reasonable price) up to a certain level of height from the base camp; operation subject to weather being favorable.
Topography is so beautiful and trip ends up as a really memorable one.
Darshan of the Lord in the form of 'Barf' (Ice) cannot be explained! Heavenly!
To add to the wonderful experience two doves could be seen seated in a separate place on top of the cave, giving credence to the myth that they were present there while the secret of Life was advised to Ma Parvathy by none other than Lord Siva himself at the Amarnath Cave.
Travel Tips: To be extremely careful in choosing the time of travel (as the Idol starts melting in line with the hot weather and now a days faster due to 'global warming'), ensure that (a) the travel bookings are done accordingly and (b) the necessary medical check up & obtaining certificate to prove ones fitness for the journey as per requirement (can be checked at the web site) is in hand, arrangement for the stay at the camps at Sonamarg is in place, booking of helicopter rides is done beforehand (normally operates from early morning till evening) and ensure to bargain & fix the charges for the pony ride (if required) prior to the climb.
Advisable to carry some warm clothes, rain coat or umbrella (possibility of rain exist during the Yatra period), cap, hand gloves, walking shoes with socks, water bottle, fruits or eatables like nuts & chocolate to boost energy; a light 'back pack' will be ideal to avoid excess weight.
Wish everyone a Happy Journey............

Temple is a speechless, powerful demonstration of beauty of nature. Beautiful caricatures formed from ice is a worth a beauty after the treacherous trek to the cave. The beautiful shivling made from ice and the other ice forms seems like the statues of gods. Never seen such a beauty before.
You can reach amaranth temple from baltal as well as pahalgam. The pahalgam route is difficult and it takes days to reach the cave. Belief is that pahalgam is the actual route, which Lord Shankar took to reach the cave. The baltal route is short. Back and forth is easily managed in a day, when all is by your side. When I say all by your side, the major factors are weather, your health, time you start your journey from the base camp. One should start the journey latest by four in the morning, and if you have a decent stamina, will be able to manage back to the base camp by four in the evening. You can choose to travel by Helicopter, Palki, Pony or your strong legs.
There are lot of historical stories about this cave that you will learn on your way to cave, not sharing any of those here. However, the most popular one about the pigeons seems like a truth. I was able to spot a pair of pigeons at the cave though no birds spotted throughout the trek.
On the way up to the cave you will have most amazing things to look at. Last three kilometers you will be walking on the glacier. Locals have dig out holes in Glacier to draw water from the river beneath. There are tents on the way and can be hired to stay overnight. If the weather turns bad, you will not be able to reach back, and then might need to put up in one of these tents. The beds in these tents are made by cutting ice or they can be called ice beds. When you wake up in the morning, you will be buried inside these beds because of your body warmth. Make sure to sleep with raincoats on, as these are not at all warm and cozy, and instead wet and hard.
Helicopter from both baltal and pahalgam, drops at panchtarni and then one has to walk, pony or palki to the cave, which is close to 5 kilometers. The last 3 kilometers is walk on Ice and is the most challenging part. You will stand, fall, stand, fall in the ice and the series continues until you reach the cave. If you hire a palki, it is the most comfortable part and they will take you up to the cave and back to your base camp. You can hire a pony if you are not scared of sitting on the horse.
Possible routes to travel to cave are:
1. Helicopter (panchtarni)+ Pony
2. Helicopter (panchtarni)+ Palki
3. Helicopter (panchtarni)+ Walk
4. Pony back and forth from base camp
5. Palki back and forth from base camp
6. Walk
Notes of Personal advice
1. Always carry raincoat during the trek, as it takes only few minutes to change from bright and sunny to rainy.
2. Carry some chocolates, dry fruits, glucose and ORS in your pocket, as there may be times when you need instant source of energy and vital salts.
3. Eat light but enough to have decent energy as due to lack of oxygen at the top, your digestion will slow down and may suffer from nausea.
4. Do not get too excited and burn your energy quickly, as you will not be able to regain it back soon due to slow body processes subject to low oxygen levels. Always save some buffer energy in your body, as if you keep power bank for your phone.
5. As soon as you get a network or a telephone booth, inform your family about your well-being, as there may be times when there is no network for days. Also, tell them not to panic in case you are not reachable.
6. Wear good quality shoes, as you have to walk in ice for close to 6 kilometer. Sneakers are a big NO as they may become wet and chances of catching cold and falling prey are high.
7. First aid kit, torch, warm jacket, water bottle, tissue paper is necessary. You might end up paying for basic stuff worth 10 bucks in hundreds.
8. Amarnath is always high on terror attack do not do anything which may be harmful to India.
9. Most important, never pay money to the pony or the palki vendor before your journey completes. They are the biggest miscreant on this yatra, and do not trust them at any cost. While starting the journey with them, ask them for their Identity Cards, and do not hand them back until you are safely back to your base camp. They may misbehave with you at times, like ask you to walk when there is uphill to climb, so they do not have to do much labour. Reach out to the nearest standing army men if misbehavior is reaching beyond limit and do not create unnecessary noise; it will be problematic for you only. There is thin line to decide when you need to raise voice and to ignore. Manage with these people diplomatically and avoid getting in to discussions.
10. If you are not that typically religious and superstitious, avoid journey on Monday. There is rush like anything, and may have to wait for hours in queue outside the Cave and that too in ice.
Happy Travelling!!!

Can anybody help whether I can go to Amarnath baba .I m completing 75 yrs on 1st July 2019
Written 12 October 2018
Sir......As per the Yatra rules children below 13 years and adults above 75years are not allowed. However, if your doctor certifies your fitness for yatra.....you may still check with the registration office. Yatra is tough as there are no smooth way to cave. Addition, oxygen level declines as you go up.

Time window is mostly around 25 june to 26 August. During this time range, what is best time to visit so that amarnath iced shivlinga can be seen ?
Written 31 May 2018
Visit 10-15 days after yatra starts so that you won't come across too much rush and will get to see shivlinga. Going towards end of July has very less chances of seeing shivling. Though it varies year to year, we were lucky to see 4 feet tall shivling on 28th June, once we saw 2 feet shivlinga when we visited on around 20th July and in 2015, we didn't get to see even half feet tall linga when we took darshan on 25th July. So try to keep it around first 2 weeks of July.
