It's not bad, not great either. The picture tells the truth, it was busy but also nice. However, I could not say it was stunning and very little by way of 'facilities' I suspect people use the sea as a toilet! It beats the rocky...More

Even in April there were a lot of people. Can’t imagine it in high season. That said the colors of the water, the shape of the beaches, the shallow waters you can wade in, the soft sand, the great walks make this an incredible place....More

One of the most amazing beaches I have ever been to. It is a bit crowded but you can get away from the crowds and explore the wilderness of the beach. Definitely worth it!

Pro: plenty of parking, you have this wonderful place nearly for yourself. Con: All (50c pay) toilets are locked, most tavernas are still closed. Don’t miss this wonderful place during off-season, but be prepared.

Worth visiting for one day. Would recommend renting a car and going here on your own terms. With the guided tour busses it can be a bit stressful, especially if the guided tour makes other stops on the way befor you reach Elafonissi.

We were here at this beach two weeks ago. Season begins by end of April. Toilets, cafe were not open even though there were couple of them open just outside the beach. It was quiet, mesmerising turquoise blue water, clear. You can easily walk along...More

Hi, Elafonissi is about 2.5 hours away in the far west of Crete. You'll basically need to drive back to Rethymno, then to Chania, on to Kissamos, and through the mountain passes to fairly remove Elafonissi. I do not mean to... More

At Elafonisi beach there are underwater currents especially this time of year and the water might be a bit colder; having said that, the swimming area is well protected by the rocks around it and the buoys, most of it is... More
