This lake has very clear water and a clean ghat (banks) with a lot of greenery all around. Also, the locals said that there were mythological connections with this lake.

Its around 15 kms before Jowai just next to the road.. The lake is beautiful but now it seems not maintained or taken care of.. Its a small yet very beautiful. Also if you walk a little you can see few pine trees growing there.

The Sajar Nangli Lake is located in Thadlaskein. It was constructed by a General of the Jaintia king who rebelled against the monarch. The lake is believed to have been dug out by the toes of the bows belonging to the General and his followers and is located on the Shillong- Jowai road.
A few hotels have opened up near the lake and one can do boating,

located on the shillong Jowai bypass, the lake finds its place in the "to visit" list of the tourist visiting Jaintia hills. The lake is just besides the road. As for the history it is one of man made lakes of the region.
I happened to visit the lake I was on a bike trip with two of my friends to Jowai and Dawki and had boarded the CTC orchid inn hotel which is just opposite to the lake. I woke up early to go for a morning walk on the pavement along the lake. Warm sun rays of the early winter morning spreading the light everywhere and the distant pine trees visible vaguely through a envelope of mist made the lake look more beautiful. The calmness of the place is very inviting.

Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya has lots of places worth-visiting for their natural beauty and anthropological importance. Thadlaskein Lake is one such spot. It is located at Mukhla, near the highway about 20 kilometers from the district town of Jowai. The trucks plying on the highways occasionally cause irritation. If someone wants to drive down from Shillong through the beautiful hills and forests, it would take about two hours to cover the distance. There are very few people seen in and around the Lake. The Lake is full to the brim with clear water which reflects the blue sky. It is surrounded by green meadows and long treelines with hilly backdrop. The lake has boating facility. The local village headman takes care of the regular upkeep of the lake. Early in October 2011, we witnessed an angling competition organized in the lake with a prize money of Rs Seven Lakhs for the largest/heaviest catch. At the center of the lake there is a small cafeteria on a wooden platform. Across the highway, there is a small hotel named Orchid managed by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation at Mukhla. It is clean and services are good. Thadlaskein Lake is peaceful, serene and purely natural in sight and sound.
