Playa Zicatela provides a broad expanse of sand and surf. The waves are varied so gauge their strength - they can be strong enough for surfing so take care with younger children and weak swimmers. For a nominal commitment to purchase food/beverages or for a flat rental fee, you can have use of seating and shade. The usual vendors are... More

This is one of the longest beaches I've ever been at. Perfect to watch the surfers in the morning, and the sunset at the evening. A lot of bars and restaurants along the beach. The only down side is all the loose wild dogs strolling around.

Playa Zicatela is the spot to relax, people watch and shop while in Puerto. There are many restaurants to choose from depending on your taste and budget. Some places on the beach offer covered lounges close to the water as well as more regular restaurant style dining. The ocean here is famous for the waves so that usually means a... More

Beautiful wide bay with great, daunting surfswells, not for beginners. Strewn with beachrestaurants renting chairs and selling food and the street opposite full of surfstores, souvenirshops, restaurants this is a must on any stop in Puerto Escondido

We are not surfers, but enjoy watching them on this huge beach. The waves are too rough for comfort, so we just stay in the edge. But the beach is lovely, very uncrowded, and with loungers, under umbrellas, with good food/drink service. It's also slap next to so many stores and restaurants - and a great place to hace dinner,... A lovely beach, awesome little places to eat and a great nightlife make Zicatela the best option in Puerto. It is ok during high season, although it can be a bit crowded. Trust me, during the low season, it is really paradise, both for fun and relaxation. A warning: the beach restaurants may try to trick you into paying too... More

It's a big beach where you can have fun, swimming, eating and drinking. The most popular and urbanized beach. I really prefer the others than this one but you mustn't miss it.

Not much to say. I have been coming here for years and it's amazing. All of it, the food, the people, the beach, the vibe, all of it. I live in China now and I just came back here to spend New Years, it's that awesome.
