Worth it to see the ocean there.

Tenacatita is a great anchorage for boaters. Good swimming and other water sports. Jungle trip at far end a must. Careful with beach landing. Snotty hotel dont like cruisers. Get real. Charming town taxi ride away. Lovely long curved beach .

Tenacatita has changed over the years. My first visit was in 2007 when a local from Barra de Navidad told me he would take my wife and me to the most beautiful beach. He wasn't kidding. Back then there used to be a number of restaurants all along this beach, but due to some sort of ongoing dispute, the restaurants... More

One of the best beaches I have ever been too. You can rent an umbrella for 100 peso's. A nice young man will also bring you beer and meals. If you prefer, you can also bring your umbrella (necessary), food and drinks. The beaches and water are clean. Easy swimming and playing for all ages. A short walk over the... More

I used to love going to this beach. Had the most amazing snorkling and I never feared for sharks or anything. However there was a territory dispute and it wasn't open to the public for a time, and I'm not sure it is yet. But drive over the rocky trail to this small beach and strap on your snorkel and... We just drove from Manzanillo and planned our day trip based on the ratings of Barra de Navidad on this site as #1 place to go in the area. After going yesterday, we believe that #1 rating is WAY outdated. Perhaps a few years ago it was #1, or perhaps just do not go at this time of the year.... More

We were staying in Cuastecomate and took a day tour to the beach out of Melaque. The main reason for the trip was because we were told of good snorkeling at this beach. Knowing it was a "bare" beach, we took coolers, chairs, umbrellas, food, beverages, etc. So, glad we did, especially the beach umbrellas - no other shade!!! The... More

As a person who lived on his boat in Mexico for more than four years, I was interested in seeing how the area looked after the beach palapas were removed. There are no services here, and no sun cover, so I would not recommend it for a day at the beach. I live in Mexico, and I'd like to correct... More

Do not waste your time on a fairly long drive to get here. There is NOTHING at this place. I am not sure if the whole area was blown away by Hurricane Patricia or if it has been in total disrepair for years. There are no facilities at all at this beach, not even a restaurant or toilet. It took... More

With the legal dispute being settled Tenacatita is slowly coming back to life. We found the lack of facilities to be part of the charm rather than a deterrent. You have to bring your own food, drink and shade. The day we went there were maybe two dozen people on the beach, many who had come by tour boat but... More

This is a location that's in legal dispute, so there are absolutely no running facilities there (e.g., toilets, restaurants). So, take your seat, lunch, and umbrella - and your snorkels - because it's worth the visit. Just a short drive from La Manzanilla or Melaque.
