Small village at the end of one-lane road in the north. For some nice views of the village walk an initial section of the Tjornuvik-Saksun hike - go through the village and uphill until you're happy with the view (about 15-20 min walk).

At the very top end of Vestmanna lies a little village called Tjornuvik. There is just one road leading to is, and it also terminates there. The village consist of about 20-30 houses and boast a stunning mountain range in the SW and an very beautiful bay with black sand in the NE. Sheep all around and typical houses with grass on the roof make this a painting on its own. As this was our first village during our visit, this was already a benchmark in the views section. Simply staggering. The road leading to it is also worth a mention, adventurous and view all the way.

Although the drive to reach the place was quite possibly the scariest I've ever done, with single lane, pitch black tunnels and roads on the edge of the cliff, it's definitely 100% worth it!

The view from the village is absolutely incredible, with quite possibly the most dramatic looking beach we've ever seen.

We spent hours just enjoying the view and playing fetch with a local dog, it was perfect.

Great drive to reach this village. It has a lovely black sand beach. When we arrived the beach cafe was shut but we discovered a small private cafe in the village centre. A very welcoming coffee and waffle for 50 DK run by a friendly and enterprising local.

In the middle of nowhere, below a mountain lies a cute little village with 54 inhabitants. The road there is steep and all the roads are nice but narrow. There are stop pockets at regular intervals for meeting traffic.

One of the many Faroese villages located at the end of a road, nestled around a beautiful U-shaped beach, ideal for surfing (according to the club on site).
