Kharghar bird watching area is a hidden paradise and a gem of a place for bird watchers and wildlife photographers. Still new to the tourists and other wildlife and birding crowd means, this place is not disturbed and hence one can easily see a variety of species on a given day.

The long stretch of marshland with canals and water catchment area which is used for fishing and fish farming is a heaven and a permanent stay for a lot of species of birds and animals. The present of the mangroves forest beside this marshland gives the birds and animals a safe heaven to stay and thrive year round.

Common birds which are easily seen are different types of Munias, Bulbuls,  Prinias, Weavers, Koels, Cuckoos, Swifts and Swallows. Water birds like Herons, Storks, Kingfishers and other type of waders like ducks, cormorant, Swanphen and Waterhens are found in great numbers. There are also terns and gulls along with different typed of raptors like Kites and Harriers.

Along the birds there are also mongoose, snakes and different types of insects and butterflies which are found here.

I would recommend come visit this place on a weekend and you will be pleasantly surprised by the flora and fauna.

Great place with Many poison snake available here. Don't go with small children and pet dogs.I had been visiting here in Panaspada since almost last 5 -6 years. It is good place but very dangerous also. Use proper shoes, for late evening, use good quality of light. Don't go in grass and trees. Use only path. For ur information all snakes and cobras of mumbai and navi mumbai send here. My dog encounter with beby 'saw scaled viper' (which was injured ) yesterday and I realized I am just going to lose my pet. Please take care of your love one. Specially children.Unable to upload more photo due to limited size. But snake photo uploded for ur ref.

The road from Raintree marg to Chapewadi is an interesting medium challenge trek which can be done by unfit people in about 90-120 minutes and by fit guys in 60-75 minutes. The trail is through a forested area, though shrubs may be a better term. In addition to the physical challenge, it also has a fair amount of birdlife and a wonderful view from the top for viewing sunrise over the hills to the east and sunset into the Arabian sea to the west.. A good place for a picnic, but beware that you need to carry all the stuff required for the picnic. Motorised vehicles are not allowed except for the residents of the two villages at the top. The two wheelers of villagers and the occasional buses which ply to the tribal villages, often allow you to take lifts though.

Kharhills is urban jungle amid concrete of Navi Mumbai. Just opposite Kharghar Golf course Practice range, it is moderate trekking experience. It takes about 25-30 minute for light trek to phanaswadi village 1.75 Km. The range from Phanaswadi view point provides breathtaking view of Navi Mumbai. It is open all months except Rainy season. No Guide required, just follow some trekker and voila...Take children along.
