We love visiting Cathedrals and have done so throughout the interior of Mexico. I would put this in our top 5. Happened to be a mass on when we were there so although we didn't get up to the altar area, we quietly sat and enjoyed the ambiance. It was mesmerizing to hear the mass said and the priest's words reverberating throughout. The cathedral is flanked by plazas on two sides full of people, music and activities.

Construction of this cathedral began in 1660 and was completed in 1744 - yes, 84 years later. The towers are towering - over 200 feet high. The organ inside is impressive. This pink stone cathedral is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is the city's shining star.

Amazing old cathedral. If you like history, architecture or both, this is the place for you. The things we learned about it on the guided tour just made this place a lot better than it already is. There's a whole lot of things hidden in the history and building itself. Not to miss

I just got married here in December 2023 and it was a terrible experience. I had to jump hoops with paperwork after paperwork they kept requesting all year long. Then when it was finally the wedding day after the ceremony we wanted to take pictures with family and they said no, we even begged for 10 mins…well long story short they kicked us out. Keep in mind I live in the U.S. and most of my family lives in Mexico, so I had a lot of choices on where I could get married and I picked the catedral, big mistake. Save yourself the headache and pick somewhere that values your time and treats you with dignity and respect.

A must see, at least it was for me as I have to visit the beautiful cathedrals of an area. This is my first visit to this part of Mexico, and I have been pleasantly surprised at the awe inspiring beauty of the region-and gems like this have helped to contribute to my feelings on the area! Absolutely loved it!

This is a central point of Morelia, the cathedral looks beautiful at different times of the day, make sure to take photos during the day, at sunset and at night when is illuminated and looks gorgeous!

I have, in the course of my travels, visited many, many cathedrals, on four continents plus New Zealand.

Most are forgettable. Morelia's is not.

It is, for starters, huge, and it has an outstanding organ, which, out of the blue, started to play when I was there and the building was dark and seemingly empty.

Came to mass every morning during our 5 day stay here, a true gem of the baroque architecture. Well worth attending mass here.

We were fortunate to witness the Saturday night fireworks and lighting of the cathedral towers. The main street in front of the towers is closed to traffic, while hundreds of people line up for the 9PM show. It is accompanied by music from Marco Antoniko Solas. The timing of the fireworks in keeping with the music was spectacular. A show worth seeing..
We toured the inside of the Cathedral the following Sunday and were awed by the beauty and granduer fo the architecture and adornments.

The cathedral is beautiful, with many side altars and chapels in addition to the main altar. We visited during the lead-up to The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and floral tributes covered most available surfaces. There is signage in both English and Spanish both inside and outside, detailing the building of the cathedral.
