Worth the visit

The Michoacan Museum was interesting both in its prehistoric exhibits but also 19th-century Mexican history. Located in the center of the colonial city.

This museum is housed in a centuries old building. Interesting artifacts of pre-hispanic Mexico of Tarrascan Indians, the Mexican Revolution that overthrew the Spanish imposed government and made Mexico independent. Lots of history here!

A bit of everything, prehistoric, natural, local life, history, etc. Signposted in Spanish only, but you can guess what's what about. Local art in one of the rooms as well.

i have just visited this Museum and I must say that I found it very informative, from the prehispánic era until the Independence Movement. On the first floor , there were a lot of nice precolombin pottery, jewerly, weapons , and "códices" of the native "tarasca" culture. Second floor was mostly with paintings, religious and of the Mexican Independence Heros.... More

Even though all of the exhibits were in Spanish, I was able to enjoy the displays, which used many maps and symbols to enlighten about the history of this huge and complex state.

I have been searching for the connection between the 2 states of Michoacan and Michigan. This museum was very helpful and interesting. There was no crime or anything to worry about here. A very pleasant experience.

This was, I thought, by far the best (I.e., most thorough and comprehensive) museum in Morelia. That being said, I think Morelia is more about beauty.

Most of the museums in Morelia are small and of indifferent quality, but this one stands out for its survey of Michoacan history from pre-conquest to the end of the 19th century.

All of the museums we visited in Morelia were well done, and this is no exception. Brush up on your Spanish, as there is little English translation. We learned a lot about Mexico's history from this visit.
