    Go to the lunch counter!!!
Small market - not touristy at all. Not much here though unless you're cooking. Had lunch at the adjacent lunch counters along with locals. Best Chile Rellenos I've had in a long time. The pozole was good but the chicken soup was amazing (had 1/2 a chicken in it). Prices were very reasonable.

    Small market and clean restroom
It is a small market and a lot of shops are closed. We didn't buy nor eat anything at this market. Nothing particular of interest. We're a bit disappointed. We did use the restroom (20 pesos per person/entrance). The restroom is clean.

Mercado municipal y artwork at plaza.
Mercado municipal has reasonably priced food. Eric (heriberto) at LA Mexicanita attended and provided drinks - nonalcoholic and full plate lunches for 5 at 60usa$. The plaza gets packed and great food, some vendors only do pesos. Great people watching and definitely the beautiful artwork displays makes for a magical day.

Mercado Municipal is a very small market which caters mostly to the locals. There are a varieties of mixed outlets offering fresh fruits/produce, meat, cooked food to souvenirs/crafts. There is also an eateries canteen next to the Mercado. We went through the Mercado in less than 1/2 hour.

This local market is worth a visit. There are a variety of peppers, tomatoes, onions, limes and fruits. Everything looked fresh. There are stalls selling cheese, meat and fish. The large selection of dried herbs was interesting and there were pots of fresh herbs for sale as well. You can buy flowers, toys and souvenirs here, too. Just outside the main entrance a vendor sells fresh tortillas. Getting there by taxi was a little difficult but the market is only a few blocks from the tourist area of San Jose.

We stopped by this Mercado in search for lunch and found this little gem, they not only have a Mercado with a variety of meat markets and shops, they also have a number of different kitchens that serve food, which we ate at, we also bought some groceries at one of the shops, loved this quaint little area, so much to see

Lower prices on the beach. It got one star from me because the tacos were good in the cafeteria. For shopping, don’t worry about finding this place. Shops will not barter. We got laughed at. So rude. I bought three cooktop spoon holders, they were priced at $120 pesos each. We offered $300 pesos for all three. She laughed. Won’t ever send anyone here, and won’t go back. Not to this place, and not to Cabo. I have been coming for over 17 years off an on, this will be my last. Too many tourists, way too commercial. Sad.

Everything is fresh and cheap. Mercado is small, but worth the trouble finding. There is also a cafeteria or "lonchera" next door that serves very cheap ( and yummy) mexican food. Parking can be a hassle, so it might be better to walk from centro historico.

More of an old school market with fresh fish, vegetables and tortilla made fresh as you watched and waited. Very friendly and good prices.
