Went in the morning for a fresh squeezed orange juice, we were walking around and saw people eating huaraches. We decided to try one and they were AMAZING. Lots of local and foreign tourists eating at the Veloz Huaraches. Its the one with lots of people. Try them, you'll love them.

Stalls and stalls of everything from silver to cilantro! Fresh produce, fresh flowers, trinkets, souvenir, art etc, etc, etc. A flea market atmosphere with better prices than the stores on the square with much of the same merchandise. An interesting people watching place too.

It's hard to write about how much I love el Mercado. I've been coming here since I was a small child with my dad, who loved to take my sister and I out for tortas (delicious grilled sandwiches on french rolls) and chocomilks. This time, I travelled to San Miguel with my sister as an adult---a new experience that gave... More

You will see similar items all over town - but the prices here are really great. Several booth even have artisans at work - making... More

This is "the place" to shop for just about anything - starting with fresh produce and other foods, moving briefly onto clothing, cowboy boots and small appliances, then into the main section with talavera pottery, toys, jewelry, bolsas, and other goodies. If you are bored, just take a long stroll through the mercado and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells.
